We also explain how to view and send Gmail messages from Hotmail
It is becoming more and more common for users to have more than one email account on different servers , as a way to use the accounts for different purposes (for example, one more for work and one more for personal purposes). The two free mail servers that have been most successful over the years are Hotmail and Gmail , the bets of Microsoft and Google respectively. Sometimes, however, having the emails in two separate accounts is a burden. We are going to do two tutorials in which we tell you how to receive your messages from Gmail in Hotmail and from the Microsoft email account in Gmail. Today we tell you how to receive your Hotmail messages in your Gmail account and how to send Hotmail messages from the Google platform .
One of the interesting options that Gmail offers is its ability to integrate with other email accounts. To add an account compatible with this possibility, we have to go to the Gmail configuration (first click on the icon in the form of a nut and then configuration). We choose the account and import tab and then the option "Add a POP3 account of your property". In the next step we enter the email account that we have with Hotmail and then a window will appear where we must mark the different options that we want to configure and where we must also enter the password for that account.
At the time of synchronization, we recommend using a different label for Hotmail emails , since otherwise all emails from the Hotmail account will go directly to the received messages and it can be confusing, especially if we use each account for purposes different. In addition, the creation of the label has another reason: when synchronizing the Gmail accounts, it will download all the emails that we have in the Microsoft account and will mark them as unread.
We select the option to "label incoming messages" and create a new label with the name we want. It is also advisable to leave a copy of the recovered message on the server, otherwise Gmail will delete the messages that it recovers from the other account. We can now add the account.
Gmail will also ask us if we want to send messages from the Hotmail account from the Google platform . If so, we are asked for the name and the account details we have entered are remembered. We can treat messages with an alias (it is the identification that appears when we change the account from which to send). We take the next step and then we choose the simplest option, that is, send the messages through Gmail . The account sends us a verification to the email with a verification code that we will have to insert in a box.
From now on, we can manage our Hotmail emails from Gmail and send them from the Microsoft account . To send messages from the Hotmail account , when writing a message a drop-down menu will appear at the top of the message (where it says from…) where we can choose the account from which to send the message.
