A laptop for leisure with average performance
The Lenovo Ideapad 330 is designed for users looking for a laptop for leisure without much fanfare. It's far from the qualms of the Lenovo Yoga models, with a traditional 15.6-inch non-touch screen . This screen is available in HD resolution of 1,366 x 766 pixels for the most economical configuration (650 euros). Our recommendation is to invest a little more to make the jump to the Full HD screen of 1,920 x 1,080 pixels. Both the € 700 and € 750 configurations have this level of detail.
In its guts it is reinforced by a latest generation Intel Core i7 processor . In the case of the most advanced configuration, we are talking about the 1.8 GHz quad-core Intel Core i7-8550U model. This speed can be taken up to 4 GHz in the moments of greatest demand. In all cases it will be accompanied by 8 GB of RAM, a remarkable figure that gives us plenty of room when it comes to having more open applications or using heavy processes.
Inside storage there are no surprises. Being a laptop designed for multimedia, a traditional 1 TB hard drive has been chosen . It is a solution that will allow us to save a greater number of movies or games, but we will miss the speed of the SSD memory when starting the operating system or accessing the disk. Speaking of games, the configuration of the center (the one of 700 euros) gives us the option of integrating a dedicated graphics memory NVIDIA GeForce MX150 with 2 GB . A plus when it comes to handling games, although it is still not a card that is going to make a difference in this field.
Five different colors and DVD recorder
In the field of design, Lenovo has wanted to provide the team with greater customization. Therefore, we have up to five different shades to choose the one that we like the most. These are: Platinum Gray, Blizzard White, Midnight Blue, Chocolate Brown, and Onyx Black. To enhance its appeal, a brushed pattern has been chosen on the front that surrounds the keyboard. The case seems less attractive to us, despite the fact that the presence of color gives it an extra. However, it does not have a very premium look (at least from what we have seen in the photos).
The Ideapad 330 eschews the slim and light designs of ultrabooks. It is a laptop that moves in the standards of before, with a weight of 2.2 kilos and a thickness of 2.29 centimeters. This plus point allows you, among other things, to seamlessly insert a DVD player and recorder. Good news in a time when the optical drive is less and less visible in the laptop.
In the section on connections, we are talking about a fairly complete laptop. Thus, it has two USB 3.0 ports, a USB Type C port (the star connector in the mobile world), an HDMI port and a 4-in-1 card reader (SD, SDHC, SDXC and MMC). Of course, here we miss an Ethernet port, an interesting option if we want greater stability of the connection. Be that as it may, to connect to the Internet we have dual band AC WiFi, with a maximum combined speed of 433 Mbps. Connections are completed with Bluetooth 4.1.
Autonomy and price
In the field of autonomy, we are not facing a high-performance laptop. Although it should withstand a medium distance or its use for a long time on the street, the truth is that it is more designed to use at home. According to official company data, it is capable of withstanding up to six hours of use on a charge .
More interesting is the inclusion of fast charging. With this function we can get two hours of use with only 15 minutes of charging . A good alternative if we have to take this laptop on a trip.
As we said at the beginning, the Lenovo Ideapad 330 can already be found in the official Lenovo store in three configurations. Its price varies between 650 euros and 750 euros . In short, a fairly complete multimedia laptop for its cost, with the presence even of a latest generation Intel Core i7 processor. If what you are looking for is a traditional laptop without having to scratch your pocket too much, this is an excellent option.
