SPC Ebon Go, experience of using these headphones without cable

Going everywhere with the cable hanging from your ear is becoming a thing of the past. The market offers us a growing range of wireless headphones. Small, with its own cargo box and advanced features for all tastes. A fashion that the Spanish company SPC has also wanted to target with its latest proposal.

The SPC Ebon Go, headphones that come with an even smaller charging case (to carry without problems in your pocket) and that maintain several characteristics in common with the previous generation SPC Ebon. That is, autonomy per charge of 3.5 hours, possibility of recharging the headphones up to three times through the case, protection against splashes, hands-free, compatibility with the Google assistant ...

SPC Ebon Go box

Very comfortable to use headphones

One of the points that always generate more doubts with this type of headphones is whether they are really comfortable to wear for long periods of time. In my case, the SPC Ebon Go have more than delivered on this point. They have a larger format than other proposals, with a rounded format and a small handle at one end to fit well in the ear. Once you put them in your ear you have to turn them slightly so that they fit well and do not fall when you are moving.

I have not had any problem in this aspect in the time that I have used them, neither when being static around the house nor when I have gone out for a walk or a walk with them on. They always stay in place and even with sudden movements of the head I have not had to fear for them . In addition, they have various cushion sizes to fit each ear. Mind you, I have big ears, and I couldn't help but wonder how they will work on smaller ears.

SPC Ebon Go right earphone

In terms of their appearance on the ear, they have a visual impact very similar to the Samsung Buds with this rounded shape. The reason for this form has a practical component, since a button can thus be integrated more easily to control the reproduction of the contents. Personally, I like it more than other proposals that choose to leave one end of the earphone elongated (at this point it still seems to me that Airpods are headphones that have had the cable cut). Keep in mind that it is a button, not a touch panel like the Samsung model I mentioned.

That means that we will have to press harder to use the button, although we avoid having problems with touch sensitivity. From the button of the SPC Ebon GO we can stop and continue the sound reproduction , change the song (with two touches) or answer calls. Of course, I have to say that the use of the two touches is not easy, so it is more advisable to change the song through the mobile phone or with the voice.

Three colors and resistance to rain

The SPC Ebon Go are available in three different shades . These are: black with yellow, black with red, and white with red. In the box you will find the three sizes of pads depending on the size of your ear. As I said before, it is a rather bulky headset, which protrudes somewhat from the ear and will attract attention. Of course, without being heavy, since its weight is placed at 11 grams. The full dimensions of the handset are 22.8 x 17.8 x 3 millimeters.

The Spanish company has included IPX5 protection. This means that they must be able to withstand splashes and rainwater without damage. Of course, they are not designed for you to take it to the pool since they do not withstand immersions in the water.

SPC Ebon Go 3

Synchronization with the mobile via Bluetooth 5.0

One of the good news that these headphones leave us is that they are compatible with Bluetooth 5.0 . What does this mean? At a practical level, we can connect it to our mobile at the same time that we have another linked device, such as a smart bracelet or a smartwatch. What does not change compared to the previous version of Bluetooth is the range, with a maximum of 10 meters. The process of pairing with the mobile is quite fast and simple, although sometimes I have had to start the process over from scratch when I have paired more than one device with the headphones.

And how do they sound? The truth is that they give an average performance. We must not forget that we are facing an entry model, with a price of 40 euros . Nor can you ask for wonders, although I have missed that it had a greater power. That has forced me to have them near the maximum volume whenever I have been away from home to enjoy music, for calls or for WhatsApp audios. I have also experienced a bit of latency at times. While for music or calls it has not been a problem, it can become somewhat annoying at certain times when you were playing games or watching videos.

SPC Ebon Go with headphones out of the box

Speaking of calls, this is one of the features that I have liked the most about the SPC Ebon Go . The quality of the microphones is up to scratch . And being able to talk to a person calmly without having to deal with cables or having the mobile in hand is very very comfortable.

As for its advanced functions, its compatibility with Google or Siri voice assistants stands out. Thanks to this, we can carry out voice commands directly to the headphones instead of having to speak to the phone. Its operation is good and is very useful if you are already used to moving with these assistants.

Fair autonomy

This is one of the few buts that can be put to the SPC Ebon Go. Its official autonomy reaches a maximum of 3.5 hours per charge . However, keep in mind that the audio is not very powerful, so I have had to use them regularly with the volume near the maximum. This greatly reduces the usage time per full charge.

The case or box of the SPC Ebon Go allows us to multiply the use of these gadgets up to three times more before having to charge the box via cable. This supposes a theoretical listening time of more than 10 hours. Not bad at all if we take into account how small the box is, which you can easily carry in your pocket or bag. The full dimensions of the box stand at 75.1 x 54 x 32.4 millimeters, along with a weight of 47.5 grams.

Price and reviews

The SPC Ebon Go can be found in stores for a price of 40 euros . In short, we are facing very complete wireless headphones for all budgets . Its price makes it an excellent option if you want to have a gadget of this type without having to make a very large investment. Among what I liked the most, I would place both its design, which I found quite comfortable in the ear and firm, the performance of the hands-free mode and its resistance to splashes or rain. Of the few things that would improve we find the audio power, somewhat low, especially when used outdoors.
