The 'Robinson Lists', as defined by Wikipedia, are directories' created with the purpose of helping individuals to get rid of advertising harassment through telephone calls, SMS, emails, by post or fax, practiced by various companies, particularly the telephone operators . ' These lists take their name from the character created by Daniel Defoe, an English shipwreck who spends 28 years of his life on a desert island. If you want to feel isolated as a wreck when it comes to advertising, keep reading because we are going to tell you how to join the Robinson List .
The first thing we have to do is enter the official page of the Robinson List. Before getting into the matter, on this page we can read more about the characteristics of these lists, such as:
- The exclusion service for advertising activities is completely free and has no cost for the user who requires it. All people over 14 years of age can register, minors will need authorization from their parents and the deceased, their representatives.
- When registering, you must indicate through which means you do not want to receive advertising . You may only be bothered by calls and you may not mind receiving text messages on the phone with specific offers.
- Once registered, you will only receive calls from those companies of which you are already a customer. If you do not want to receive advertising from them, you must also notify it.
- Once enrolled on the List, it can take up to three months to become effective.
To sign up, we are going to go to the button ' Sign up in the list ' and click.
We now have two options, 'Target myself ' or 'Target someone else'. We select where appropriate, in my case, 'Target myself'.
Next, we fill in the form with all the information that they ask us (name and surname, ID, date of birth and a username and password to be able to enter later). Now is when we have to apply the restrictions we want. There are five in total, as we can see in the following screenshot.
Surely, one of the most interesting is the last one we found, 'Revocation of calls'. Within this option we will have to place, one by one, the companies that we do not want to bother us anymore. When writing them, an autocomplete bar will automatically appear that we must click to place the company . Then all that remains is 'Submit Request'. At that moment, a notification will be sent to the company in question so that they do not bother you with personalized offers again. If you want to have communication on their part, you should contact them and warn them.
