My experience of using the Acer Aspire 7 2019 for a week

Acer Aspire 7 2019

A laptop for all audiences. This is the Acer Aspire 7 this year, which comes to satisfy students, workers and anyone who needs a 15.6-inch laptop. It is versatile both due to the power of its most advanced Intel Core i7 processors and its Nvidia GeForce GTX 1650 graphics . Something that allows us to work with text documents, to play games with enough ease or edit photos and videos without suffering. At least with the model that I have tested, even being of a more affordable mid-range and with somewhat lower characteristics. All this for a price that can range from 700 to 1200 euros. Here I tell you what my impressions have been throughout this week of use.

A classic but updated laptop

After testing convertible, utrallight and gaming computers, I was surprised to face the 2019 Acer Aspire 7. And it is that it has the design of a classic laptop. Its lines are straight and it marks the edges with a silver finish that makes them stand out, instead of concealing them with a bevel or rounding them. Something that reminds me of my college laptop. Of course, it has current details such as the minimalism of its cover, where all the prominence is in the centered logo. Or a hinge that always shows off the “Aspire” detail both open and closed. The fact is that its design is a kind of vintage style in this laptop. Classic, clean, elegant and simple. Forget the red lights on gaming laptops or the rounded, silver finishes on hipster laptops. Acer is aiming for classic and it's not a bad thing. In fact it is the laptop that you could take to a meeting, to the university or to have at home.A neutral design for all audiences.

Of course, it does not mean that it has been outdated. It has a full keyboard format with chiclet buttons where it is quite comfortable to type. Perhaps a little more travel on the keys would help not to skip any while you write, but after a couple of days of use it has been very comfortable for me for long working days. By the way, it is backlit in white and has all the keys, including the numeric keypad. The track pad is not far behind, and it features a really great design . Even more than I understand as necessary. But it doesn't hurt to take advantage of Windows' multi-finger gestures. A detail that I find curious and vintage is that the edge of this mouse also has the silver finish of the rest of the laptop. Very "classy".

And I say that it is updated because it does not lack details such as the fingerprint reader to start it and protect it, all kinds of USB type A and type C ports (although without an SD card slot), HDMI port and it comes with a more than decent graphics card to exploit it in all kinds of common jobs. But let's go step by step.

Good performance for day to day

My conclusion after a week of use is that this Acer Aspire 7 from 2019 solves your life whether you work between text documents, PDF and web pages, as is my case, or if you also need to make simple video and photo edits. Or if you want a laptop with which to work in the morning and play without graphic demands in the afternoon. And all this without breaking a sweat . At least with the games that I have tried.

The model I have had in my hands this week has an 8th generation Intel Core i5 processor. An i5-8300H clocked at 2.30 GHZ. And it is accompanied by 8 GB of RAM . And the truth is that it works smoothly for all the tasks that I carry out daily. Writing this review in a Word document with several Chrome tabs open, managing several PDF files and editing with Photoshop the photos that you are seeing between these lines is a task that does not require even the intensive use of the laptop fan. But beware, the thing goes further.

I have also tried to download a game from Steam like Tomb Raider from 2013. And I have tried it with Steam Link on the TV screen without any type of cable. Processes that not all ordinary notebooks can afford, or that at least this Aspire 7 that I have tried has solved very well. And it is that with a high graphic quality in a relatively old game everything continues to work smoothly. And the same happens with Fortnite and other games that do not require excessive graphics power. Something to thank for the Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 graphics card that these medium models carry, accompanied by 3 GB of GDDR5 type RAM memory only to process graphic data. More than enough to exploit these laptops for home entertainment or tasks like non-professional video editing. Remember that there are models with the GTX 1650 if you need even more graphic performance, with which current games run smoothly and with which you can mess with more demanding editing projects.

Wow, by power it will not be , as long as you are an average user. At least there hasn't been a moment this week where the Acer Aspire 7 has made me roll my eyes waiting for it to react again. And it is a point in favor given the different options available for each user. And there are models adapted to all needs and pockets. With different processors and more or less RAM, but with a graphics card that solves most of the usual requirements of the average user.

Office screen, entertainment sound

This laptop doesn't mess around with little girls. And it is designed for those who want a big screen. Be it work or pleasure, the 15.6 inchesscreen offer a wide panel for what you need. Its maximum resolution is Full HD, that is, 1920 x 1080 pixels. A standard that places it in everyday use for jobs that do not require maximum detail. That is, for everything that is not professional design and editing at the highest level. However, it works very well for leisure. Watching movies or playing games in front of this screen has allowed me to enjoy a panel size that I am no longer used to on laptops. Additions that are given by using IPS technology for this LCD panel. It doesn't have the best viewing angle, but in front of it everything looks clear and colorful. With enough saturation and brightness to make use of it even on train trips, when there is brightness and reflections. Issues that do not affect this Aspire 7 too much.

And it is that the technologies that Acer adds to this panel are partly to blame in all this. Elements that give us a clue to which audience it is directed: that of work. Or at least for people who spend many hours in front of a panel. One such technology is the Acer ComfiView, which reduces reflections on the screen and reduces blue light projection . The result is a notable reduction in visual fatigue after spending hours in front of this Acer Aspire 7. And, as I said, there are no marked reflections that worsen the viewing of this screen.

One point that has surprised me above average is that of sound. And is that to be a work laptop, there is no feeling of canned sound. In fact, we can turn up the volume and enjoy a good power to avoid having to use wireless speakers, or not having to use headphones when we watch a movie, for example. For this it has two speakers and stereo sound . It will not be the best sound in the world, perhaps failing to integrate good bass, but its quality and power more than make up for what is usually usual in a laptop. Even more so if it is not specially designed for leisure.

Battery for the whole day

It is one of the key points of this laptop. And I was surprised by the capacity of its battery given the technical characteristics of the rest of its file. Especially its 15.6-inch screen. But it seems that Acer has created an efficient work notebook that can handle the day without problems.

In fact, if we are a little careful and choose the best battery life mode, you can go up to 9 hours of work . Always depending on the type of work you have in hand, of course. In my case, I have enjoyed more than 4 hours of autonomy without having to carry the charger with me and enjoying this Acer Aspire 7 from 2019 at full power. But I have not made the most of its battery. And it is that my work, during these days, has not required trips or more time away from an outlet. In any case, drums have never been a headache for me these days, and that only means good things.

Conclusions after a week of use

It is clear to me that Acer's idea with this Aspire 7 from 2019 is to satisfy the more types of users the better. And I can imagine students who do not bet on the most cutting-edge brands and designs to carry a laptop that complies and performs, and also serves to enjoy average leisure. Or workers who want a big screen to navigate between documents without performance taking a toll on their productivity. A computer to have at home and work, or play, or edit without having to invest 2,000 euros.

conclusions

In fact, being able to have different configurations makes it even more attractive, with more powerful versions (up to ninth generation processors up to i7) and GTX 1650 graphics, which do not exceed 1500 euros . And, if you need something cheaper, you can go to the 8th generation of Intel processors but with the rest of the features of this Aspire 7 from about 700 euros.
