Samsung has renewed its successful Galaxy J series with three new devices. The new Samsung Galaxy J7 2017, Samsung Galaxy J5 2017 and Samsung Galaxy J3 2017 are now official. The Galaxy J3 is the most basic model and becomes the entry model to the Galaxy family . Despite this, we will have a metallic design and technical characteristics sufficient for many users. The Samsung Galaxy J3 2017 will arrive at the end of summer with a price of 220 euros. We are going to review its characteristics in depth.
Design and display
Many of us feared that Samsung would keep the plastic finish on its input terminals. But no, the company has surprised us for good and even the Samsung Galaxy J3 2017 has a metal body . The design is similar to that of the other two models of the same family.
Now the terminal looks much more elegant, with a premium touch that we did not see in the 2016 model. We have much more rounded edges and a 2.5D glass screen . The latter gives the terminal a much more modern look.
On the front we have the usual oval Samsung Home button. From behind a smooth finish, without much mystery.
The screen is not too big. The Galaxy J3 2017 includes a Incell TFT panel 5 inch HD resolution of 1,280 x 720 pixels .

Improved performance
We must bear in mind that we are talking about an input terminal. In other words, we cannot expect exceptional performance. However, we will have a sufficient technical set for many users.
The Samsung Galaxy J3 2017 has a 1.4 GHz octa-core processor inside . Accompanying this processor we have 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of internal storage. Since it is not a lot of capacity, the Koreans have included a microSD card slot.
Despite being a modest technical set, it is an evolution compared to its predecessor. The Samsung Galaxy J3 2016 has 1.5 GB of RAM and 8 GB of storage , so the change is important.
As a standard operating system it will have Android 7.0 Nougat , like its older brothers. Samsung's usual layer of personalization will not be missing.
Higher resolution camera
We also have an interesting change in the photographic section. The main camera of the Samsung Galaxy J3 2017 has 13 megapixels of resolution and aperture f / 1.9 . Despite the fact that it is a fairly common resolution in mid-range mobiles, it represents a qualitative leap compared to the previous model. Recall that the Galaxy J3 2016 had a camera of only 8 megapixels. At the moment the brightness of the camera has not been confirmed. It also includes an autofocus system and LED flash.
If the front camera is preserved, we assume that to save costs. We have a 5 megapixel sensor, just like we had in the 2016 model. Its aperture is f / 2.2 and it is accompanied by an LED flash. A pity that the front and rear cameras have not been equaled, as has been done in the higher models or in the Samsung Galaxy A5 2017.
Autonomy and connectivity
The new Galaxy J3 2017 is not very energy demanding. It has a low-resolution screen and a processor that manages power well. Perhaps that is why Samsung has decided to lower the battery capacity compared to the 2016 model .
In other words, we have a battery of 2,400 milliamps compared to 2,600 milliamps in last year's model. We assume that Samsung will have done a good job of optimization.
At the connectivity level we have the usual, such as GPS, WiFi b / g / n and Bluetooth 4.2 . In addition, despite being the lowest-end terminal, it also has NFC for mobile payments.
Availability and price
We finish talking about the price. The Samsung Galaxy J3 2017 will arrive in Europe about the month of July with a price of 220 euros (unconfirmed). Perhaps comparing it with other Chinese terminals it could seem expensive, but we must bear in mind that it is a terminal of recognized brand.
