How to remove programs that start automatically in Windows 10

Tablet mode in Windows 10

Windows 10 is an operating system that has meant many things to Microsoft . On the one hand, it means the crystallization of many concepts that had been half developed in Windows 8. But it also means a return to the start menu. Of course,  with a more modern concept and the inclusion of brick-shaped icons that filled the main screen of the previous Windows. Among these novelties, one of the tools that has gone most unnoticed in recent years is the task manager . Microsoft has greatly improved its performance, with a cleaner, easier-to-use interface and several advanced options. Among them, to choosewhich are the programs that start automatically when we start the session on the computer. We will tell you in a few steps how to use this tool.

There are several ways to access the tool to find out which are the programs that start with Windows 10 and disable those that slow down the system startup  or are not necessary. We start with the most modern form, which is ultimately one of the great novelties of the new Windows. We are talking about the voice assistant Cortana, which we can see next to the start menu button. In the corresponding box we find the message "Ask me anything" and a button to use the microphone just to the right. If we click on the box we have the option to write "Task Manager" and then press the enter key. We can also click on the microphone and say the same to get to this tool.

Another more classic option is to use the control + alt + delete key combination and then select on "Task Manager". In any case, once inside this application we will see a simple view where the icons of open applications are shown. In this window you have to click on "More details" . Within the tabs that are shown, the one that interests us is "Home" (the fourth starting from the left).

Here we will see a list of all the programs that start when the computer is turned on. On the left is the name given to the program and on the right is the editor behind it. This combination is excellent news, since although the name of the program is weirder in most cases we will be able to see the company behind it and thus identify its usefulness. The next column shows us the status of each application, which can be "Enabled" or "Disabled".  The most interesting column is the last one, which shows us the impact that each program has on logging into Windows. This impact is divided into "High", "Medium" or "Low".

Logically, it will be more effective to look at which are the programs that we do not need open when Windows starts and that have a high or medium impact . Just click at the top where it says "Start impact" so that the processes are ordered according to the resources they consume. Once we have decided which programs we want to stop starting with Windows, just select it and then click on the "Disable" button . These programs can be started manually at any time, and we also have the option of re-establishing the automatic start by clicking on "Enable" with the selected process.
