TP-Link Neffos C5 Plus, analysis with characteristics, price and opinion

TP-Link Neffos C5 Plus, we have tested it

A smartphone for 70 euros? Is that really possible? It is and we've been testing it for a few days. The TP-Link Neffos C5 Plus is a basic smartphone with a 5.34-inch screen . It is equipped with an MTK MT6580M processor, 1 GB of RAM and a 2,200 milliamp battery. In addition, it has a 5 megapixel rear camera and a 2 megapixel front camera.

It sports a classic design that will appeal to the detractors of the notch or notch on the screen. In addition, it has a removable battery, something I have not seen in a long time. It is a mobile designed to be a child's first terminal or the device chosen by those who only want to make basic use of the terminal . I have been testing the device for a few days to tell you what it offers us. Of course, always taking into account that we are talking about a mobile with an official price of 70 euros. In some stores we can even locate it for 60 euros.

Classic and comfortable design

we have tested TP-Link Neffos C5 Plus rear

The TP-Link Neffos C5 Plus sports a simple but effective design . We don't have a notch whatsoever, so it's great for those who hate screen bumps. We have a large frame, both on the top and the bottom.

The back cover is made of plastic. It has a rounded finish on the sides that makes the device very comfortable to hold. Also, in the lower left corner we have a small slit to remove the plastic cap. And is that the TP-Link Neffos C5 Plus has a removable battery .

we have tested TP-Link Neffos C5 Plus side

Looking at the mobile from the front, in the right frame we have the physical buttons of the terminal. Specifically we see a button for on and off and the two volume buttons. At the opposite extreme we do not have any type of button.

The charging connector and the headphone connector are located at the top . This change with respect to the vast majority of terminals allows you to carry your mobile in your pocket connected to an external battery and with headphones on. The truth is that it is quite comfortable.

And as for the display, the TP-Link Neffos C5 Plus has a 5.34-inch TN panel . It offers a resolution of 960 x 480 pixels . As is logical, this screen offers a very fair performance, but once again we must take into account the price of the terminal. The most negative point that I have found is that the glass that protects the screen creates reflections that make it difficult to see the content when there is a lot of light.

Where will the lack of resolution be most noticeable? For example when watching YouTube videos for example, since we will not be able to go beyond 480p of resolution . In applications where you send the text, such as social networks, we will also notice the low resolution. Of course, we cannot compare it to much more expensive terminal screens.

Adjusted performance

we have tested TP-Link Neffos C5 Plus app

The TP-Link Neffos C5 Plus is equipped with a MediaTek MT6580M processor . It is a chip with four ARM Cortex-A7 cores that operate at 1.3 GHz. It is accompanied by 1 GB of RAM and 8 GB of internal storage .

Being a terminal of 70 euros, its performance is correct. It is true that the opening of the applications may take a few seconds, but nothing exasperating . By taking some precautions, such as not having many apps open at the same time, we can use the mobile without too many problems.

we have tested TP-Link Neffos C5 Plus game

I've tried a few simple games, like Fruit Ninja or Jetpack Joyrider, and they have worked perfectly . We must put a little patience in the initial load, but once the screen is loaded they are playable.

I have also had no problems with apps like YouTube, Facebook, Twitter and even Instagram. This last it took a little while to load the stories that are with video, but otherwise it works perfectly.

we have tested TP-Link Neffos C5 Plus battery

Regarding autonomy, the TP-Link Neffos C5 Plus is equipped with a 2,200 milliamp battery . Although if we compare it with the capacity of other mobiles it may seem scarce, the truth is that with the hardware that this device includes it is enough. I have been able to spend the whole day without any problem with regular use of the mobile.

And in terms of connectivity, we have 802.11n WiFi connection and Bluetooth 4.0 . The charging connector, as you can imagine, is a Micro USB. In addition, it has a double Micro SIM slot . Also with another slot to be able to use a Micro SD card of up to 64 GB .

Cameras for occasional photos

we have tested TP-Link Neffos C5 Plus camera

The photographic set of the TP-Link Neffos C5 Plus is very simple, but it can be used to take sporadic photographs. It has a 5-megapixel sensor on the rear and a 2-megapixel sensor on the front .

The camera also offers us the possibility of shooting in HDR , as well as applying the usual Beauty Mode . In the latter we can choose the level of "beauty" we want to apply, both in the front and rear cameras. We also have the Panoramic mode and a flash on the back.

we have tested TP-Link Neffos C5 Plus camera photo options

As for the Camera application, it offers us some interesting options. For example, within settings we can activate face detection and even automatic scene detection . If we activate the latter we will not be able to activate some manual options that are quite useful.

We also have a timer, the option of continuous shooting or the ZSD system. And as for video, we have an electronic stabilizer and a maximum recording resolution of 720p .

If we decide not to activate automatic scene recognition, from settings we can, for example, apply an exposure compensation . Also color effects , such as black and white, sepia tone or negative.

We can also modify the type of scene that we are going to photograph, having some available such as sunset, night, portrait or landscape, among others. And we can even modify the white balance to adapt it to the type of lighting we have.

Obviously, the results are not overly striking. We can get some usable pictures if we have very good light . Although I must say that I was surprised by the result in low light conditions (cloudy or sunsets). Again, we must take into account the type of audience that this mobile is aimed at and its price.

Android Go 8.1

To make the mobile work smoothly, TP-Link has chosen to include the Android 8.1 operating system in its Go version . Android Go has specially designed applications, much lighter to offer a better experience on low-end mobiles.

we have tested TP-Link Neffos C5 Plus operating system

The terminal comes with the basic Google applications installed , such as Gmail, Calendar, YouTube or Google Maps. The latter, for example, is a special lighter version that runs from the web browser.

We do not get rid of some applications that are left over, such as three games or a theme application . We can uninstall the games, but applications like TouchPal or the aforementioned Themes is not possible.

The truth is that this system works quite smoothly . Of course, the launch of this version was a success by Google, since it offers the latest system functions in the cheapest terminals.

Conclusions and price

From TP-Link we have been told that the TP-Link Neffos C5 Plus is a mobile designed as a first communion gift for children aged 8-9 years . It could also be directed at a person who wants a very cheap mobile without giving up being able to use the Internet when they need it.

we have tested TP-Link Neffos C5 Plus screen

This device is a very basic mobile, but it offers an acceptable technical set for the price it has . It does not lack detail, with two cameras, a compact screen, an interesting design and a good battery.

And it is that, I feel if I am repetitive, but its price is really low. The TP-Link Neffos C5 Plus has an official price of 70 euros , but taking a quick look at the usual stores we have located it even for 60 euros. It is almost impossible to give more for so little.
