Brother MFC-L2750DW, we tested this monochrome laser printer

The Brother MFC-L2750DW is a monochrome printer for freelancers and SMEs . A multifunctional device with a very competitive price for the functions it includes. This model is capable of printing at speeds of up to 34 pages per minute . But the most interesting thing is that it includes double-sided copy, scan and fax. It's not short on connections, either. In addition to its Ethernet and WiFi connectivity, it incorporates NFC to print from the mobile and Mopria certification. This means that we can print directly from any Android app without having to open the document with Brother's own app. The Brother MFC-L2750DW can already be found in the official store of the firm for 331 euros. A compact but good performing printer

What is most surprising about the Brother MFC-L2750DW is the relationship between its compact size and the performance it achieves. And this model is almost the size of a typical home printer, but with speeds typical of a large laser equipment. Specifically, this model is capable of reaching 34 pages per minute (according to ideal figures) . In the case of using the duplex or double-sided printing function, this speed drops considerably to 8 pages per minute.

Keep in mind that this is a monochrome team, so black and white and grayscale will be the only option available. In other words, it is an ideal equipment for printing typical documents in the day-to-day office , but it can be limited if we want to print graphics or other types of documents that look better with color.

The maximum resolution that documents can reach is 2,400 x 600 dots per inch . We have generally obtained a good finish on the printed documents. Of course, the folios tend to curl slightly, especially if we do not use a heavy grammage. Perhaps more than other Brother laser models we've tested. Of course, the speed of this printer does not disappoint at all  when we print on one side. In our tests, the average speed of the printer when it is already in operation is around 25 pages per minute, a very interesting figure. The most curious thing about the matter is that by printing on double-sided we have managed to beat the figure that the brand gives, with up to 12 pages per minute in some cases.

The minimum time to first print is 8.5 seconds, although this value varies greatly depending on the quality of the WiFi, the size of the document, etc. The Brother MFC-L2750DW is a laser printer designed for the environment of SMEs and freelancers who have to print regularly, but not very intensively. Your recommended maximum monthly cycle is up to 2,000 pages per month .

Design and paper handling

We have already advanced that this printer is quite compact, and it is one of its most obvious attractions. Its dimensions are placed at  41 x 39.8 x 31.8 centimeters, along with a weight of 12 kilos. These figures are very competitive and will allow us to leave the printer in any corner of the office without worrying about space. In this case, a black color has been chosen throughout its design that makes it look quite elegant and discreet. At the top we have the ADF and the glass for scanning.

Somewhere I had to cut the Brother printer (aside from not being color) to maintain that price range. The MFC-L2750DW has a small 6.8 cm screen. It is to be appreciated that it is a touch panel, and that it also includes Brother's large icons platform. But it is true that this screen is sometimes too small, especially when entering text. For example when configuring the WiFi or when connecting to Web Apps.

We also would have liked to see that the panel on which the screen is located could be lifted so that typing and viewing the screen was more comfortable.

When it comes to paper handling, we have an input tray for up to 250 pages , along with a 1-sheet manual slot for heavy weights up to 230g / m2. We especially liked its output tray, which is integrated into the printer itself. Although there is a small stop that can be extended to prevent the blades from falling, the truth is that we had no problems in our tests even without the stop. The key is two projections on each side of the tray that are angled and stop the paper from advancing.

Copy, scan and fax

The Brother MFC-L2750DW laser printer is very versatile. It not only prints, but also copies, scans and faxes . And all this with the ability to do it double-sided. An advance that is not so common to find in printers below 400 euros. To perform these functions, you can use the automatic document feeder (ADF) of up to 50 sheets .

In the field of copying, the maximum speed that can be reached is 34 copies per minute (in black and white, of course), with a quality of 600 x 600 dpi. As usual in these cases, we can reduce the documents up to 25% or enlarge them up to 400%.

In the case of the scanner, the quality that is obtained varies if we use the upper glass or the ADF. In the first case, the maximum quality is set at 1,200 x 1,200 dpi, while in the second case the maximum quality is 600 x 600 dpi. Scanner speed is up to 22.5 images per minute in black and white or 7.5 images per minute in color. Available options include using OCR technology to recognize the characters in the document and edit them on the PC or send the scan directly by mail.

Finally, the fax of this printer has a speed of 33.6 kbps and the option to send faxes through the PC is also incorporated.

Mobile printing and connections

This is another of the strengths of this printer. The MFC-L2750DW incorporates a very wide range of connections. Starting with the inclusion of both an Ethernet port and Wifi. In the first case we have a more secure connection directly via cable, while WiFi has the advantage that the device can be placed in any corner of the office without having to pull the cable.

But there is much more. This laser printer incorporates NFC connectivity . Thanks to this, it is very easy to carry out printing or scanning tasks directly through the mobile, without first having to connect to the same WiFi network. Once we have installed the iPrint & Scan app, just bring the smartphone close to the NFC panel and in a matter of seconds it will be ready to print directly.

Precisely, it incorporates WiFi Direct so that we can create our own network for the printer and connect the computers with which we want to print. Of course, you can also work via WiFi both on your mobile (by app, Mopria, AirPrint) and via PC. One of the few buts that can be wielded in this section is the lack of a slot to insert a USB memory . It is a very comfortable function and it may be missed, since we will not always work through the Internet.

Speaking of functions, we must highlight the inclusion of a secure printing mode for those sensitive documents of the company that we do not want all employees or any visitor who passes through the office to see.

Consumables

In the field of consumables, this printer incorporates a toner with a capacity for 1,200 prints . When it comes to buying refills, we have the option of buying an XL size toner. This toner has a maximum capacity of 3,000 prints and in the long run it will mean greater savings compared to buying a normal toner. The price of the normal toner is 50 euros , while the XL toner option goes up to  90 euros . The drum is designed to hold around 12,000 impressions and has a cost of 90 euros.

Price and reviews

The Brother MFC-L2750DW printer is not one of the cheapest on the market, but it has a very competitive price of 330 euros . And we say that it is very competitive because it is a really complete team, despite the fact that it has the main barrier of being a monochrome model. But if what you are looking for is a printer to print standard documents and perform all kinds of functions, it is very likely that it meets your expectations.

Starting with the inclusion of all double-sided functions (print, copy, scan and fax). The field of connections is also not far behind, with the option to synchronize the mobile directly through NFC , cable or WiFi connection and compatibility with AirPrint and Mopria to print directly from apps such as the browser or a text editor (without the need for install Brother's own app).

And all this with very interesting speeds of up to 34 pages per minute and with a compact design that makes it easy to install the printer in any corner. In short, a powerful option if we are looking for a versatile monochrome laser and we do not have very large workloads.
