Pokémon Home is the new service created by Nintendo for mobile phones, Nintendo Switch and 3DS, which allows us to transfer the Pokémon that we have stored in the different video games of the saga and make exchanges with other players. In this article we explain how to install Pokémon Home, and how to use it to transfer your Pokémon from previous games.
What is Pokémon Home
Pokémon Home is a cloud service that allows us to store the different Pokémon obtained in most of the games in the franchise. It is a freemium service, whose most basic functions are free, but which offers more advanced payment plans for 3.49 euros per month, 4.99 euros per quarter and 15.99 euros per year.
Pokémon Home will also allow you to manage your Pokémon, in addition to reviewing their characteristics and making exchanges with other players. The main limitation of the free version is that you can only store 30 Pokémon. The Premium version adds features such as the transfer from the Pokémon Bank and the judge function.
How to install Pokémon Home on mobile
Installing Pokémon home on your mobile phone is very simple, since all you need to do is download the application from the Android or Apple application store . Once you have completed the installation of the application you can use it normally.
The first time you start the application you will need to do some basic settings , how to grant the necessary permissions to function, and configure the interface language. You will also need to select a region, information that the application will use to match you with other players from the same or nearby region.
Once you have completed all the above steps you will need to link the Pokémon Home app to your Nintendo account. To do this, you will only have to log in using the same account that you use on your console or Pokémon Go, to play Pokémon video games.
After that, a small introduction to the app will appear, where you will have to enter the different screens that appear to select your avatar and your username. At the end, a small screen will appear, so you can confirm that the data entered is correct.
Next, you will be asked to choose one of Kanto's three starter Pokémon : Charmander, Bulbasaur, and Squirtle.
After choosing the initial Kanto Pokémon you want, you will access your personal corner, where you will find the main data such as your Pokémon in use, your achievements within the application, the list of your friends and the warnings or notifications that you receive.
The exchanges section which you must use to exchange your Pokémon with other players. Most of the options that you will find here are the same that have been present in the last generations of video games such as Pokémon Let's Go, and Pokémon Sword / Shield
Third, you have the Pokémon tab, where you can see all the Pokémon that you have stored within Pokémon Home. You can rearrange the Pokémon as well as see all the data and characteristics of each one, using the button that you will find at the bottom right of the interface, and touching each Pokémon with your finger.
Doing the latter will open the individual tab for the Pokémon you touched. Inside here you will find the same information offered by the latest video games in the saga, such as the name of the creature, its sex, the level, and the game to which it belongs.
A little further down you will see all the characteristics of the Pokémon in question, as well as its list of movements and the objects that it may have equipped.
How to save your Pokémon in Pokémon Home
If what you want to do is store the Pokémon of your different games within Pokémon Home, you will need to download the application on your Nintendo Switch console . The installation and configuration process of the application is exactly the same as what we have seen for mobile phones.
Once you open the Pokémon Home application within your Nintendo Switch, you will find the option to send the Pokémon you have in their different games. To do this, the first step will be to select the game, from which you want to transfer the creatures to the application.
Once you have selected the game , you will see a new window on the right side of the screen, in which all the Pokémon that you have stored in that game will appear. If you touch with your finger on any of the Pokémon, you will see that all their statistics appear at the bottom of the interface.
Transferring one of these Pokémon to Pokémon Home is as simple as dragging it to the window that appears on the left side of the interface. A round trip is possible for Pokémon from Pokémon Sword and Shield and Pokémon Let's Go.
Use the Pokémon bank for Nintendo DS and Nintendo 3DS games
At this point, you may be wondering how you can transfer the Pokémon that you have stored in the different Nintendo DS and Nintendo 3DS games, since there is no version of Pokémon Home for these consoles.
In these cases you will have to use the old Pokémon Bank to store these Pokémon and from there transfer them to your Pokémon Home application. Logically, in order to do so, you will have to use the same account in both the Pokémon Bank and Pokémon Home.
The Pokémon Bank will be available to use completely free of charge for a month from the appearance of Pokémon Home, so you have no excuse to transfer the Pokémon you have in previous generations.
