Lenovo Moto Z, all the keys and features

Motorola's new high-end terminal is already among us. The company Lenovo , now owns Motorola , he unveiled its new flagship, the Moto Z . A terminal with an ultra-thin design and really interesting technical characteristics. The new Moto Z offers us the latest Qualcomm processor , 4 GB of RAM and a 5.5-inch AMOLED screen . But perhaps the most striking thing is that the new Lenovo device arrives accompanied by a series of accessories that the company has called Moto Mods, a kind of modules that are placed at the back of the terminal and that expand its functions. Something similar to what the LG G5 offers . Let's review in depth the characteristics of the new Moto Z .

Design and display

The most striking thing about the design of the new Moto Z is its extreme thinness. The new Motorola flagship offers us an all- metal body with just 5.2 millimeters thick . In the upper part, the thickness of the terminal is somewhat greater due to the camera lens, which protrudes a bit. The overall dimensions of the terminal are 153.3 x 75.3 x 5.2 mm , with a weight of 136 grams . The company has not forgotten to include a fingerprint reader , located on the front of the terminal.

If you noticed in the pictures, it sure has called attention to the absence of the 3.5 mm jack for headphones. Motorola is ahead of Apple and eliminates this connector for a slimmer design. Hit or miss? Then we see how the company has solved it.

The terminal will arrive in various color combinations, mixing black and white with gold and silver. In addition, the company has announced that the Lenovo Moto Z is waterproof . We cannot submerge it, but it incorporates a water-repellent coating that will protect us from splashes.

As for the screen, as pointed rumors, the Moto Z mounts an AMOLED panel 5.5 inch 1440p resolution Quad HD 2560 x 1440 pixels . A panel on the same level as its high-end competitors that achieves a density of no less than 535 dots per inch . The screen is protected with  Corning Gorilla Glass .

Processor, memory and operating system

The company has not wanted to skimp on power and has included in the Moto Z the latest processor from the company Qualcomm . We have a Snapdragon 820 chipset with four cores running at 2.2 GHz . An Adreno 530 GPU is responsible for the graphics section . This processor comes with 4 GB of RAM and 32 or 64 GB of internal storage . But space will not be a problem, since the terminal supports microSD cards of up to 2 TB .

The operating system chosen to move all this hardware is, how could it be otherwise, the latest version of Google's system , Android 6.0.1, Marshmallow . We do not know if Lenovo has had a hand, but Motorola has always been characterized by including a fairly pure version of Android , without layers of customization that add unnecessary applications. We will have to wait to test the terminal to verify it.

Photographic set

The Lenovo Moto Z offers us a fairly balanced photographic set. For the main chamber we have a sensor 13 megapixels , but with an aperture f / 1.8 . The camera also incorporates an optical image stabilizer and a laser autofocus system that will give us greater precision. Also, the Moto Z's camera uses 1.12 micron pixels , compared to the usual micron. This means that each pixel captures more information. This camera is capable of recording 4K resolution video at 30fps . Even the company ensures that the terminal's camera can record HDR video , both in 1080pas in 4K . Accompanying this objective we find a dual LED flash with CCT (Color Correlated Temperature).

In the front we have a camera of 5MP with a wide angle lens and an aperture f / 2.2 . In the front camera the company has used 1.4 micron pixels to get better selfies in low light conditions. For this we also have a built-in LED flash .

Connectivity and autonomy

The Lenovo Moto Z is a high-end terminal, so it comes with the latest in connectivity. It is compatible with 4G LTE networks , incorporates WiFi 802.11 a / b / g / n / ac 2.4 GHz + 5 GHz MIMO , Bluetooth 4.1 and NFC chip . For charging the terminal and data transfer, the company has opted for the new USB Type C connector . And precisely this connector is the one that we will use to connect the headphones. The company has included an adapter USB Type C to 3.5 mm minijack for us to use any handset.

The extreme thinness of the terminal has its consequences. In addition to the disappearance of the headphone jack, the battery capacity can be affected. In the case of the Moto Z we have a 2,600 milliamp battery , a bit below other flagships on the market. The company has incorporated a fast charging system that is capable of achieving up to 8 hours of autonomy with just 15 minutes of charging .

Moto Mods

As we mentioned at the beginning, the terminal is accompanied by a whole range of accessories that are attached to the phone. It is a concept similar to that of the LG G5 , but the difference is that in the Moto Z the accessories are attached to the back of the device , as if they were a kind of interchangeable covers. To connect these devices, the terminal incorporates a connector on its back that you have surely seen in the images.

At the moment, among the Mods presented we have a JBL SoundBoost external speaker , which will allow us to carry a powerful speaker integrated into the phone, or also the Insta-Share pico projector , with which we can project the image of the terminal on a screen of up to 70 inches. Another of the most interesting is the Power Pack module , which offers us an extra battery with a range of, according to the company, up to 20 hours of intensive use.

To finish we have a series of rear shells called Moto Style Shell . These protective cases or covers only have an aesthetic function, but are characterized by being quite different from the usual. The company has decided to give this type of cover a twist by using very unusual materials, such as wood or fabric .

Price and availability

The Lenovo Moto Z has no official release date yet, but it is expected in September. At the moment the price of the terminal or the accessories has not been revealed, but we must bear in mind that it is a high-end terminal. As soon as it is official we will give you all the information.
