Although it has been on the market for more than a year, the Samsung Galaxy S7 edge is still a great purchase option. Its price has been falling considerably and now we can find it for little more than what a mid-range terminal would cost us. That makes it a great rival for high-end mobiles this year. Can the Samsung Galaxy S7 edge with terminals like the S8, the Huawei P10 or the LG G6? We wanted to make a somewhat special comparison to see what each of the mobiles offers us. Are this year's terminals better compared to last year's Samsung flagship? Let's try to find out.

Design
On color tastes, as they say, but it is clear that we have two mobiles that are committed to innovation. The Samsung Galaxy S8 and LG G6 opt for a design that minimizes the top and bottom bezels . The most striking of the four, in our opinion, is the Galaxy S8. Samsung's flagship retains the curved screen and glass finish. In addition, it is still resistant to water and dust, with IP68 certification.
When running out of frames, the fingerprint reader of the Samsung Galaxy S8 has had to be moved to the rear . Also on the side we will find a new button to launch the virtual assistant Bixby. The full dimensions of the Samsung Galaxy S8 are 148.9 x 68.1 x 8 millimeters, with a weight of 155 grams.
The LG G6 also bets on removing the frames. Its design is very interesting, but it is less spectacular than that of the S8. This is because the LG G6 opts for a screen without curves. Even so, we have an aluminum chassis, with glass on the front and back . In addition, the LG G6 is certified IP68, so it can be splashed, wet or filled with dust without spoiling.
As it is all screen from the front, we have the fingerprint reader on the back . This is located just below the camera sensors. The full dimensions of the LG G6 are 148.9 x 71.9 x 7.9 millimeters, with a weight of 139 grams.
The Samsung Galaxy S7 edge also offers a great design. We have a curved screen on the sides and a body that combines metal and glass . Its design is more classic, more similar to other Samsung phones, such as the Galaxy A5 2017. Even so, it includes resistance to water and dust with IP68 certification.
As we said, the Samsung Galaxy S7 edge offers a design very similar to that of other products of the brand. That is, the fingerprint reader is located on the front , under the oval button. The full dimensions of the Samsung Galaxy S7 edge are 150.9 x 72.6 x 7.7 millimeters, with a weight of 157 grams.
The Huawei P10 offers a more conservative design. It seems that the company saves its most daring design for the Huawei Mate 10. Even so, we have a metal case with the upper part of the back finished in glass .
Its biggest change compared to the rest of the Huawei P line models is the relocation of the fingerprint reader . It is now located at the front. The full dimensions of the Huawei P10 are 145.3 x 69.3 x 6.9 millimeters, with a weight of 145 grams.
screen
The screen has been one of the main protagonists of the year 2017. If we have been some years that manufacturers had put them aside a bit, this year, without a doubt, they have returned to the present. The reason has been, as we mentioned, the design change of some terminals.
But we start with the oldest model of the comparison. The Galaxy S7 edge has a Super AMOLED panel 5.5 inch resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels . As you know, the screen curves to the sides and includes certain functionalities in the curve. It also includes the "Always on display" function, with which you can see notifications with the screen off.
The Samsung Galaxy S8 includes a 5.8-inch Super AMOLED panel with WQHD + resolution that occupies almost the entire front of the phone. The screen is curved on both sides and both the upper and lower frames remain in a fine line. It also incorporates the ”˜Always on display” ™ function, with which we will see notifications without unlocking the mobile.
By reducing the top and bottom bezels, the screen is 18: 9 wide . This means that, in certain content, we will have two black stripes at the ends.
The Huawei P10, however, is again more conservative. We have a display panel IPS 5.1 inch Full HD resolution of 1,920 x 1,080 pixels . This translates to a screen density of 432 dpi. A screen that looks pretty good, but lags far behind that of its rivals.
Finally, one of the great novelties of the LG G6 is also its screen. It has a panel 5.7 inch resolution QHD + 2,880 x 1,440 pixels .
In addition, as with the S8, LG has also used an 18: 9 format . With this, it is possible to have a 5.7-inch mobile in the size of a 5.2-inch mobile. On the other hand, the LG G6 screen is compatible with HDR images, both in Dolby Vision format and in HDR10 format.
Processor, memory and operating system
We speak now of brute force. As you can imagine, the four terminals have very powerful technical sets. Will the age of the Samsung Galaxy S7 edge be a problem to compete with its rivals? Let's check it out.
The Samsung Galaxy S7 edge hides inside an Exynos 8890 processor . It is a chip with eight cores, four cores running at 2.3 GHz and the remaining four at 1.6 GHz. Accompanying this processor we have 4 GB of RAM and 32 GB of internal storage.
This set allows the Samsung Galaxy S7 edge to achieve an AnTuTu score of 128,800 points .
The Samsung Galaxy S8 equips an Exynos 8895 processor . It is a chip manufactured in 10 nm and has eight cores. In terms of speed, four cores run at 2.3 GHz and the other four at 1.7 GHz. According to Samsung, the new processor is 20% more powerful and has a GPU 23% more efficient than its predecessor. . Will you prove it in performance tests?
Along with this processor, the S8 includes 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. This team achieved an AnTuTu score of 173,066 points .
The Huawei P10 inherits the processor from the Huawei Mate 9. That is, it includes Huawei's Kirin 960 processor . A processor with eight cores, four running at 2.36 GHz and another four running at 1.84 GHz. A Mali G71 GPU is responsible for the graphics.
Accompanying this processor we find 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of internal storage. With this set, the Huawei P10 achieved a score of 142,485 points in AnTuTu .
For its part, the LG G6 includes a Snapdragon 821 processor . It is a chip with four cores, two working at 2.4 GHz and the other two at 2 GHz. The graphics card (GPU) is an Adreno 530 at 650 MHz.
Accompanying this processor 4 GB of RAM and 32 GB of storage. Thanks to this set, the LG G6 achieved a score of 140,361 points in the AnTuTu test .
S7 edge vs S8 vs P10 vs G6 power comparisonPhotographic set
We arrive at one of the key points of any high-end terminal. In addition to power and a great design, when a user purchases one of these terminals they want a photographic set to match.
The rear camera of the Samsung Galaxy S7 edge is still one of the best on the market. So much so that Samsung has decided to keep it on the Samsung Galaxy S8. Thus, both devices have a Dual Pixel camera of 12 +12 megapixels and aperture f / 1.7 . It also includes 1.44 micron pixels and is capable of recording video with 4K resolution.
At the front, the S7 edge has a 5 megapixel sensor with an aperture of f / 1.7. However, the S8 increases its resolution to 8 megapixels, while maintaining the magnificent f / 1.7 aperture .
Huawei continues to bet on its collaboration with Leica. The Huawei P10 incorporates a 12 megapixel color sensor with optical image stabilization and f / 2.2 aperture . It also includes a second sensor, this time monochrome, which has a resolution of 20 megapixels and aperture f / 1.9 . The main camera is capable of recording video in 4K resolution.
At the front, the Huawei P10 incorporates an 8 megapixel sensor camera with a fixed focus system .
The LG G6 also includes two sensors, although with a different configuration. Both have 13 megapixels, but one of them is a 125-degree wide-angle and f / 2.4 aperture, while the other has f / 1.8 aperture and optical image stabilization .
For the front LG has chosen to incorporate a camera with a 5 megapixel sensor, f / 2.2 aperture and a 100 degree wide angle .
Autonomy
With all this power, the battery becomes another of the most relevant aspects of these terminals. Has the increase in diagonals on the S8 and G6 affected a lot? Let's check it out.
The Samsung Galaxy S7 edge carries a generous 3,600 milliamp battery . It also has fast charging and wireless charging. In the AnTuTu test he got a great score of 8,047 points.
On the other hand, the Samsung Galaxy S8 reduces its battery to 3,000 milliamps . Of course, it also has fast charging and wireless charging. On the other hand, Samsung has chosen to switch to the USB-C connector in its new model.
The Huawei P10 includes a 3,200 milliamp battery . Considering the screen size and the rest of the hardware on the computer, it seems like a more than good amount. And this was demonstrated in the AnTuTu test, in which he achieved no less than 13,866 points. It also has SuperCharge charging, which allows us to charge the terminal to 100% in just over an hour.
Lastly, the LG G6 includes a 3,300 milliamp battery . In addition, it also offers the Quick Charge fast charging system in version 3.1. In our analysis it was able to withstand the day without problems, just like its rivals in the comparison.
Conclusions and prices
We started the comparison by wondering if the Samsung Galaxy S7 edge can compete with this year's high-end models. In design, in our opinion, the S8 and LG G6 offer a more interesting proposal . Both have a more modern design, without frames.
Something similar happens with the screen. Being the screen of the S7 edge very good, the screens of the Samsung Galaxy S8 and LG G6 surpass it . Not in resolution or quality, which is the same, but in size and design.
In brute force, as was logical, the Samsung Galaxy S7 edge comes out as the loser in the tests . Its three rivals get higher scores, which does not mean that the Samsung Galaxy S7 edge is not powerful. It is more than likely that in daily use we will not notice that difference in power.
And if we talk about cameras, the only thing we can say is that we are dealing with the best on the market . As we mentioned, the Samsung Galaxy S7 edge camera is still one of the best. With the four terminals we will get great photos, so we will only have to think about which functionality we like the most.
Finally, in terms of autonomy, with everyone we will reach the end of the day without problems. In addition, all four have fast charging. We do not have AnTuTu data for all devices, so we cannot do a numerical assessment only. However, considering the hardware, we could risk saying that the Huawei P10 is the best in this field .
But don't worry, we don't forget the price. Let's talk about current prices, since the launch price of all the devices has been decreasing. The Samsung Galaxy S7 edge can currently be found for around 530 euros on Amazon .
The Samsung Galaxy S8 is sold in the most trusted stores for over 750 euros . As for the Huawei P10, it is currently priced at about 550 euros . Finally, the LG G6 can be found around 450 euros .
All prices mentioned are from Spanish stores or sold and shipped by Amazon. However, we have the option of looking in Chinese or import stores that sell through eBay or Amazon itself . In this case, the price of all models would drop considerably.
