Acer Aspire R13 and R14

Acer company has a long experience in creating all kinds of notebook computers . So much so that it continues to delve into covering the spaces that distinguish tablets from computers . For this reason, it has presented two new series of convertible computers at the IFA event in Berlin , capable of acting as tablets, laptops, touch screens in lectern mode and other variations that adjust to all kinds of situations. Laptops that not only surprise with their ingenious design and functionality , but also have processors suitable for all kinds of work and entertainment. It's about the convertibles Acer Aspire R13 , with 13.3-inch screens , and the  Acer Aspire R14, with a wide variety of compositions to suit the needs of users. We discuss them in detail below.

Display and layout

There is no doubt that design is one of the strongest points of these two notebook series. On the one hand because they are elegant and simple devices in their lines, enhancing their portability. On the other hand, there are its sophisticated and exclusive hinges , which allow the user to reconfigure the appearance and layout of the screen and keyboard, adapting to any situation.

In this regard, it should be mentioned that the Acer Aspire R13 series has an exclusive hinge called Ezel Aero that is anchored to the case and the screen to have a 180 degree turn . In addition to this swivel hinge, there is another double-swivel anchor to complete the six positions offered by all the compositions in this series, all this by readjusting the viewing and sound options to match the mode of use. -          Panel mode : The full rotation of the screen allows the device to be compact in the form of a tablet to use it as such, without the keyboard.

-          Tent mode : the tent or inverted vee position is also practical to enjoy any content in a small environment.

-          Screen mode : in this position the user has complete control over the screen, being especially useful for viewing audiovisual content without having to rely on the keyboard.

In the case of the Acer Aspire R13, we must talk about 13.3-inch screens , without the possibility of choosing other sizes. Although, it is possible to choose the configuration with panels with IPS or IGZO technology . In the first case, they manage to display a Full HD resolution (1920 x 1080 pixels) , expanding in the second models to WQHD quality (2560 x 1440 pixels). The differences also lie in the higher viewing angle of the IPS screens and in the lower power consumption of those IGZOs . What they do agree on is the Gorilla Glass 3 materialwhich makes them especially resistant without reducing the visibility of the contents. It also has a brightness sensor to adjust the brightness according to ambient light and a fingerprint protection to prevent the use of its touch panel from making it difficult to see the screen due to annoying spots.

Moving on to the Acer Aspire R14 series, we must talk about a convertible laptop that does not stand out so much as it does not have Acer's exclusive U- shaped hinge . However, this does not prevent its panel from being anchored to its own double-turn hinge that offers up to four different positions . All this with an aspect of the lightest and most elegant, looking for the portability and comfort of the user. Its manufacturing material is a variation of zinc with a soft rubber finish to be more ergonomic. These are its different modes of use:

-          Portable Mode : it is the usual position for users who need a computer to use.

-          Screen Mode : A position that brings the screen closer to the user to enhance its entertainment features. It can also be used as a digital photo frame.

-          Tent Mode : The tent-shaped position to place it vertically on small surfaces.

-          Panel Mode : Full 360 degree swivel that transforms this laptop into a tablet.

Going on to talk about the screen of this Aspire R14 series, it should be mentioned that its size is 14 inches . And it is that it is a more versatile laptop, seeking to satisfy users who want to enjoy entertainment content in addition to working with it in almost any situation. Of course, despite its larger size, the maximum resolution is HD , staying at 1366 x 720 pixels .

These two series of Acer notebooks seek to satisfy almost all user needs, whether during a flight, in the comfort of a sofa, on the desk. That is why, in addition to its attractive design, it has quite balanced technical specifications , trying to offer the necessary power for normal work.

In the case of the Acer Aspire R13 series , the company has chosen to create compositions with the latest versions of Intel Core i5 and i7 processors , although which ones are not specified in detail. Along with this, there are options to choose up to 8 GB of RAM , offering great fluidity to all the jobs and processes that are carried out on the laptop in any of its modes. Meanwhile, in the storage section, we must talk about the possibility of choosing up to a TB of capacity in RAID-0 configuration .

For its part, the Acer Aspire R14 series prefers to give a touch of extra power for those users who, in addition to working, also want to enjoy the leisure of video games or other types of entertainment with more requirements. Thus, this range comes with Intel Pentium, Core i3, i5 or i7 processors , allowing it to adapt to each user. The possibility of choosing up to 12 GB of RAM memory is surprising to improve device performance and avoid slowdowns. In terms of memory, this series has 500 GB and 1 TB equipment to store any content.

Apart from these issues, it should be mentioned that some of the Aspire R14 models have an Nvidia GeForce 820m graphics card , thus enhancing the entertainment aspect for video games, video editing or photo retouching.

Multimedia

In this regard, Acer has offered little information about these two ranges of convertible notebooks. While the Aspire R14 stand out for the graphic performance of their card, the Aspire 13 series have several additions that make them especially useful when making video calls . Includes Dolby Digital Plus Home Theater sound technology for an immersive feel . It also has Acer Purified Voice , a technology that combines a dual microphone array and exclusive programs (voice recognition and sound processing) to achieve maximum sound quality when recording, making video calls, etc.
