Samsung NX3000, interchangeable lens mirrorless camera

NX3000

The leading cameras of the brands are getting smaller and smaller, you have more electronics and above all, less mirrors. The Samsung NX 3000 is not a professional camera, but a device for truly enthusiastic photography enthusiasts. With a good-sized sensor and 20 megapixels of resolution, it allows entry to the NX lens range , a series of cameras and lenses that Koreans take very seriously and already has six cameras and a dozen lenses.

The Samsung NX 3000 also takes the trend of the moment seriously: selfies . And is that if these spontaneous self-portraits are usually taken with the front camera of the phone , of very low quality, the NX 3000 wants us to make them worthy of being framed. For that, it has allowed the rear screen of the camera to turn 180 degrees upwards, with which we can take the selfie perfectly seeing the frame. It is a large screen, three inches diagonally, with a resolution of 460,000 dots and of a TFT touch nature.

The sensor is of type APS-C CMOS, with an effective resolution of 20 megapixels . It is a large sensor, the size we usually find in mid-range SLR cameras. The actual size of the sensor is much more important than the number of megapixels, since a captor of respectable proportions like this one has much larger photoliths than those of a mobile camera or a more basic compact . Thanks to this we expand the dynamic range and reduce image noise.

But in terms of pixels it does not have a negligible number either. The 20 megapixels are embodied in a maximum resolution of 5472 x 3648 dots . With this image size we could make copies on paper of 46.3 x 30.9 centimeters with a professional image quality (300 dots per inch). If we lowered the quality a bit, the images could be much larger, so unless we are thinking of wallpapering the walls of the Empire State Building with a photo, it is a more than enough resolution.

It is capable of taking photos in RAW (DNG in this case). These files are much larger than a JPEG and contain all the information that comes out of the sensor bypassing the camera's image processor. It is an uglier photo for being untreated, but it is essential to be able to use a graphic editing program such as Photoshop in depth .

One of the most interesting points of this camera is the WiFi connection. It is already a common feature among cameras in recent times, but not all brands take full advantage of this possibility. The Samsung NX3000 will not only be able to do the things expected of a camera with this connection: transfer the photos to a hard drive without cables, upload them to social networks ... but it can go a step further.

And is that the Korean brand has several applications for mobile phones and tablets that allow you to control the cameras of the NX range remotely. In this way, wherever we are, we can use the mobile or tablet as an auxiliary screen to record video or take photos, as a remote trigger or to change the camera parameters. In addition, there is the possibility of using the phone's 3G or 4G connection to share the photos from the camera without having to wait for a WiFi connection.

As expected, the Samsung NX 3000 is capable of recording video in Full HD quality (1,920 x 1,080 dots) at 30 frames per second. The camera has a battery life of about 370 shots , and it does not have an official price or a release date yet.
