Just a few days ago BQ presented its two new terminals, the Aquaris X and the Aquaris X Pro. Two phones that, according to the company itself, seek to revolutionize photography in their price range. But in addition to a good camera, there are two phones with a very balanced technical section. And they arrive ready to give a lot of war in the mid-range. Today we wanted to face one of them with one of his greatest rivals. We are talking about the new Motorola terminal from Lenovo. A terminal with very similar prices and characteristics. Today we compare the Lenovo Motorola Moto G5 Plus with BQ Aquaris X .
Android's mid-range offers increasingly premium designs. Manufacturers have become accustomed to using metal and glass in many of their terminals. And users appreciate it. The Motorola Moto G5 Plus features a high-quality diamond-cut and pearl-polished aluminum finish .
We have a design with very rounded edges and a screen that shows the side frames. On the front, the start button stands out, which hides the fingerprint reader .

At the rear only the camera lens stands out. A lens set in a kind of circular frame bounded by a metal border. This design means that the camera is not fully integrated into the housing .
The full dimensions of the Moto G5 Plus are 150.2 x 74 x 7.7 to 9.7 millimeters. Its weight is 155 grams. That is, we have a thinner area, but another much thicker part. It is the same that happened in the Moto G4 Plus.
At BQ, however, they have chosen to use metal frames and a polycarbonate back shell . The most premium finish, with a glass back, is reserved for the Aquaris X Pro.

Although it is true that the polycarbonate finish is more suffered and more resistant, it detracts from the elegance of the design. For the rest, we have a terminal with rounded edges and a very common design. On the front we have three capacitive buttons to operate the system. The fingerprint reader is located in the central area of the back . And in the upper left the camera lens.
The BQ Aquaris X has dimensions of 146.5 x 72.7 x 7.9 millimeters, with a weight of 153 grams.
Lenovo has decided to reduce the screen size compared to its predecessors. We do not know if it will be due to a cost issue, but it is something that many users have not liked.
However, if we opt for the Plus version, we will have a size that is quite standardized. And is that the Lenovo Moto G5 Plus integrates a 5.2-inch screen with Full HD resolution . The screen density stays at 424 dpi.

Its rival in this comparison incorporates a panel of the same size. The BQ Aquaris X has a 5.2-inch screen with Full HD resolution . The company wanted to highlight that the screen incorporates Quantum Color + technology, which reproduces more than 16.5 million colors with a brightness of up to 650 nits.
Processor, memory and operating system
Both manufacturers have opted for a similar technical set. A processor that, along with a good amount of RAM, will not leave us stranded with any application.
The Motorola Moto G5 Plus keeps inside a Snapdragon 625 processor manufactured by Qualcomm. It is a SoC with eight cores at 2 GHz and an Adreno 506 GPU at 650 MHz. Accompanying this processor we have 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of internal storage. We can expand this capacity with a microSD card of up to 128 GB.

The BQ Aquaris X opts for a Snapdragon 626 processor , also made by Qualcomm. It is a processor with eight cores running at a speed of up to 2.2 GHz. BQ has complemented the Qualcomm SoC with the Qualcomm Adreno 506 GPU and incorporates 3GB of RAM. As for storage, we have 32 GB of internal memory and the possibility of expanding by microSD card up to 256 GB.
As for the operating system, both terminals come with Android 7.1 Nougat as standard . Also, both Lenovo and BQ use a very pure version of the operating system. Something to be thankful for and that, unfortunately, is not very common.
Camera and multimedia
So far we have verified that we are facing two very similar terminals. However, in the photographic section, the Moto G5 Plus offers a more advanced system . Perhaps it would be more fair to compare it with the Aquaris X Pro.
The main camera of the Moto G5 Plus is made up of a 12-megapixel sensor and an f / 1.7 aperture . A really impressive latter data for a terminal of this price.
Moto G5 Plus main camera
In addition to an excellent aperture, the Moto G5 Plus incorporates a focusing system that the company calls Dual Autofocus Pixels . With this system, the camera allows you to lock the focus on the subject up to 60% faster.
It also incorporates a dual LED flash with color balance is capable of recording video at 30fps and 4K resolution provides video stabilization .
The front camera, meanwhile, is 5 megapixels with a wide-angle lens and f / 2.2 aperture . You can use the flash function on the screen if necessary.
BQ Aquaris X main camera
The BQ Aquaris X returns to bet on sensor Sony IMX298 16 megapixel . This sensor offers an f / 2.0 aperture and a 1.12 µm pixel size. We also have a phase detection autofocus system and a dual-tone LED flash.
The main camera is capable of recording video with 4K resolution at 30fps and also incorporates Vidhance video stabilizer .
Regarding the front camera, we have a Sony IMX219 sensor with 8 megapixels and front flash.
In the audio section, the NXP TFA9896 smart amplifier that incorporates the BQ terminal stands out. On the other hand, HiFi category headphones are also included, with distortion levels at maximum volume lower than 0.006%. Finally, the Aquaris X includes the aptX bluetooth audio codec, which reduces latency and quality loss typical of traditional codecs.
Autonomy and connectivity
Moto G5 Plus Battery
The Moto G5 Plus incorporates a 3,000 milliamp battery . According to the company, enough to last the whole day. In addition, the G5 Plus includes TurboPower fast charging. This system provides up to 6 hours of battery life in just 15 minutes of charging.
Its rival offers a somewhat higher capacity, although it is not a remarkable difference. The BQ Aquaris X incorporates a 3,100 milliamp battery . Qualcomm's Quick Charge 3.0 fast charging functionality has also been included.
Battery BQ Aquaris X
In terms of connectivity, both arrive well equipped, although with a slight advantage for the BQ. The two mobiles have GPS, Bluetooth and even NFC. However, the Moto G5 Plus incorporates 802.11n WiFi; while the BQ Aquaris X offers 802.11ac WiFi .
Conclusions and price
There is no doubt that we are facing two of the most important terminals of the mid-range this year. Both have a lot to offer for a very competitive price. At the design level, we must break a spear in favor of the Moto G5 Plus . And the thing is that plastic, even if it is of good quality, detracts from the category of design.
As for the screen, we have two panels with the same size and the same resolution, so we could be facing a clear tie . However, BQ ensures that its panel has some advantages. We will have to wait for thorough testing to see if they really show up.
Moto G5 Plus
If we talk about brute force, the result would also be a draw . Although the BQ Aquaris X offers a more powerful processor, we don't think it shows in real use. This equality is maintained in the amount of RAM and storage. And it even extends to the battery.
It is, perhaps, in the photographic section where we find the most differences. The BQ terminal opts for a powerful Sony sensor, but its opening raises doubts. We think the camera of the Moto G5 Plus will give a better performance . Even so, we will have to wait for a thorough test to verify it.
BQ Aquaris X
Last but not least, we have to talk about the price. Even here we have practically a draw. The launch of the Lenovo terminal is imminent. In fact, the Moto G5 can already be purchased in Spain. The Moto G5 Plus will be priced at 280 euros .
The BQ Aquaris X will go on sale the first week of May. Its price will be 280 euros .
