After trying their luck in the touchscreen market, the mother company of all Blackberries , Research in Motion , returns to its roots with the Blackberry 9700 , also known as the Bold 2 . With a size extremely compact , physical QWERTY keyboard and good internal performance, the 9700 is the latest chapter in a story that RIM has been refined increasingly terminals up to a corporate mobile that is not intended to compete in leagues such as that of large-format touch screens but to be the perfect ally for anyone who needsmanage tons of emails, updates and messages wherever you are.

Design and display

The Blackberry 9700 inherits the size and external appearance of the 8900 model . Its measurements are compact and it is as comfortable in the hand as in the pocket. The terminal measures 109 x 60 x 14 mm and weighs 122 grams . The front of the phone is half occupied by the screen , a 2.44-inch LCD with 480 x 360 pixel resolution, and a full qwerty keyboard.

Research in motion has worked hard to improve the exterior ergonomics of its phone controls. The result is a qwerty keyboard whose keys have a curious shape with cuts at three angles that makes them equally comfortable when typing with the left hand, the right hand, or both . The same goes for the directional pad. The pearl of previous models has been exchanged here for an optical touch pad that works incredibly well and makes navigating through menus very agile .

Processor, memory and software

The Blackberry 9700 is not a phone designed to support extensive multimedia functions and, nevertheless, its characteristics already wanted them for other terminals that boast of it. The terminal includes a 624Mhz processor, 256MB of RAM and another 256MB of internal space for storage . We also find the proverbial MicroSD card slot with capacity for up to 16GB .

Like the rest of RIM's phones , the Blackberry Bold 9700 carries the Blackberry OS operating system in version 5.0 . The phone's menus move smoothly and there are no significant lags or the execution of large video files.

Camera and multimedia

The camera on the Blackberry Bold 9700 is, in a way, a disappointment. Equipped with a 3.15 megapixel sensor (2048 × 1536 pixels in JPG) , otherwise it is endowed with acceptable features such as LED flash, image stabilizer or autofocus . The camera also records video , but RIM does not detail to quality. Most likely VGA . There is no secondary camera for video calls.

Regarding the compatibility with different types of files, the 9700 supports MP3 / WMA / AAC + as far as audio is concerned, and DivX / WMV / XviD / 3gp in video . A good selection to which is added complete compatibility with Office and PDF files . The terminal lacks an FM radio tuner with RDS, but it does have A-GPS .

Connectivity

Connectivity is undoubtedly the strong point of the Blackberry Bold 9700 . Not so much because it is out of the ordinary in hardware, but because of its operation at the software level . The terminal is a 3G HSDPA at 3.6 with Wi-Fi 802.11 b / g and Bluetooth 2.1 with A2DP audio profile . Although the internet connection does not reach 7.2MB / s of other terminals, it does not need it, since the mobile is not designed for streaming video but for high-performance messaging . The 9700 is capable of managing up to 10 email accounts in real time on a whim , with separate or joint inboxes for each. It is also compatible with all types of mail service have or might have and messaging program works like a charm. It also does not offer bad performance with the installation of messaging applications and social networks such as Facebook or Twitter . No matter where you look, it is a phone designed for writing . The physical connections consist of a MicroUSB for charging and data and a 3.5mm jack for audio .

Batteries, price and availability

Equipped with a 1,500 mAh battery , the 9700 has a nominal autonomy of 6 hours in conversation and 408 in standby . Accustomed to handling Push e-mail and messaging notifications before other brands, the 9700 manages battery life much better even when loaded with a lot of notification work via 3G . The Blackberry 9700 is now available with Movistar and Orange at different prices depending on the type of contract or if we come from another operator.

The best

The management system mail and messaging accounts and physical controls such as keyboard and trackpad.

It can improve
