The mobile world is ready for the return, on August 23, of the new Samsung Galaxy Note 8. On the occasion of this event, which will take place in New York City, at tuexperto.com we have decided to look back. Tell you how the evolution of the Galaxy Note model has been, since, in 2011, it made an appearance for the first time. A mobile that introduced the term phablet and that was intended for maximum productivity. Thanks to its large screen and stylus, the Samsung Galaxy Note has been a perfect terminal for executives, designers and workers who needed a large screen for their activities.
Evolution of Samsung Galaxy Note terminals
Samsung Galaxy Note 1
Now, when we look back in time, the Samsung Galaxy Note seems like a rough terminal. In those days the average size of the screen was about 4 inches. And the ascent began until 5.5 today. How did the public receive a terminal of such dimensions? An overwhelming success: more than 10 million units were sold. And as much as it seemed to some a cell phone too big, we could see that this was the future of screens.
At that time there was no screen with a 2.5D effect (that little curve that makes the side bezels disappear). And infinite screen, we better not talk. QHD resolution? No way. We had to be content with HD resolution 800 x 1280 pixels . Of course, Super Amoled panel, but only 285 ppi. Now we have almost double that in the new Galaxy Note 8.
We did not have a physical button, but a series of haptic buttons that served as backspaces, background applications and Home. Above, a black band with the Samsung logo. As we see, little use of the screen.
The first S Pen also burst in, causing this terminal to enter, fully, to replace the, by many longed for, BlackBerry model. A mobile this Galaxy Note that gave the starting signal to a new way of conceiving work through mobile technology.
In the rest of the features, we can see a 1.5 GHz Snapdragon S3 dual-core processor, 1 GB of RAM, 16 GB of ROM, 8 MP main camera and 2 MP front camera . As we can see, a lot would change in these 6 years.
Samsung Galaxy Note 2
Here we see, for the first time, how the Note range includes the so characteristic Home button of the Samsung house. A more beautiful and rounded model than the previous one for a 5.5-inch screen and still HD resolution. As for its processor, we had the arrival of the Exynos, Samsung's own: 4412, with four cores and a clock speed of 1.6 GHz. 3 versions of 16/32 and 64 GB along with double the RAM memory, 2 GB , and a 3,100 mAh battery made this Samsung Galaxy Note 8 a remarkable qualitative leap. It appeared in September 2012 at a price that, today, would seem very cheap, 300 euros. Even then times have changed.
Samsung Galaxy Note 3
Little aesthetic difference between the previous one and this Galaxy Note 3. Of course, a little less rounded in its corners, flatter and more modern appearance and permanence of the physical button. This button would not disappear from the Note until the next arrival of the Samsung Galaxy Note 8. Regarding the technical characteristics, we see how the screen continues to grow until it reaches 5.7 inches , which is a giant leap. In addition, it happens to have Full HD resolution.
As for the processor, we have an eight Exynos 5420 cores with a clock speed of 2.3 GHz , a big jump compared to the Note 2. 3 GB of RAM, 3 storage models and a 13 megapixel main camera for a terminal that, for the first time, it represents a great leap in quality in the range. It appeared in 2013 at a price of 420 euros.
Samsung Galaxy Note 4
The rounded edge is trimmed on this Note 4 looking quite similar to its predecessor model. We continue with 5.7 inches but we go up to 1440 x 2560 and 518 ppi .
We continue with the improvements: Exynos 5433 processor at a clock speed of 1.9 GhZ, same RAM and a single size model, 32 GB of ROM. The main camera rises to 16 megapixels, we already have fast charging, a 3,220 mAh battery, fingerprint sensor, NFC ... A terminal that appeared in September 2014 and that only meant an increase of 20 euros compared to the previous one . Today, regardless of the Android version, you could look at a lot of midrange from you to you.
Samsung Galaxy Note Edge
And finally the curved screen came to a Samsung terminal. A curved glass that brought a new dimension to the phone and served as a side menu to be used with the S Pen.
Samsung Galaxy Note 5
We reached 2015. In August of that year, Samsung renewed its Galaxy Note range to bring us a terminal with the same screen ratio and resolution. Around here, no change. The screen ratio, however, increases (we went from a 73.4 in the Note 4 to a 75.9 in the Note 5). We have an Exynos 7420 processor with eight cores, one more giga of RAM reaching 4 GB and 3 storage models. The photographic section is also renewed: 16 megapixels and focal length f / 1.9 for the rear camera and 5 MP for the selfie camera. The battery, however, drops 3,000 mAh, no doubt due to optimization with the new processor. This terminal reached 600 euros. This mobile did not arrive in Europe, in a strange maneuver of the company.
Samsung Galaxy Note 7
Samsung decided to skip the numbering, in an attempt to pair this terminal with its brand new S7 range. In the end, everything we already know happened: it had to be recalled due to a problem with its batteries. Few differences with the aforementioned Note 5: new processor (Exynos 8890) and the appearance, for the first time, of USB Type C. In this terminal we already have the curved screen implanted, whose popularity exploded with the appearance of the S7 Edge. In addition, it incorporates resistance to dust and water, a great addition to avoid damaging the equipment in an unexpected dip.
Samsung Galaxy Note 8
And we come to the end, with a terminal that represents a break with the previous Note models in many respects. Infinite screen, more RAM, the absence of a physical home button and the appearance, for the first time, of the double camera. Everything, of course, has a price: 1,000 euros and specifications of heart attack, whose 15 keys we gave in a recent special.
