Last week we told you that Samsung had launched the long-awaited update to Android 8 Oreo. It is the most recent that exists. And the one that all users of compatible devices are waiting like May water.
The first to receive it, as we told you, had to be the participants in the beta tests of this update. It was expected that the data packet would then begin to be deployed to the other devices. Including those that are not part of the testing program. And logically, those that are in Spain.
The point is that now there has been an unexpected change. Because Samsung has stopped updating to Android 8 Oreo for the Samsung Galaxy S8 and Samsung Galaxy S8 +. If you have one of these two devices in your pocket, you may have to prepare to wait a little longer.
Android 8 stopped for the Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8 +
Everything happened in the following way. Samsung launched the update to Android 8 Oreo for Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8 + a couple of days . Also for models who were not participating in the beta program. And it did so in the following countries: Turkey, Norway, the Arab Emirates, India, Belgium, Germany, France and Poland. Furthermore, the data package was expected to arrive in the Netherlands from the following week.
Today, as explained by specialist media Sammobile, Samsung has suspended the release of the update . And indeed, according to the investigations carried out, the firmware files corresponding to this update are no longer available. They are the G950 / G955-FXXU1CRAP and they no longer exist on Samsung's servers.
Why was the update stopped?
The update to Android 8 Oreo has been stopped, for now. And the reason is not very clear. Not now. Everything suggests, according to sources close to Samsung and consulted by Sammobile, that the company is working on a new version of this update .
Users who have already been lucky enough to update their terminals to Android 8 Oreo (probably not cases of devices located in Spain), should not have any problem . In fact, they will be able to continue using the devices with the new version of Android.
What's new in Android 8 Oreo for the Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8 +
Android 8 Oreo is a long-awaited update for users of the Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8 + . Because, in fact, it brings a good number of improvements and new functionalities. For starters, a new version of Samsung Experience UX, the customization layer that the Korean firm usually adds to all its devices.
It is expected, on the other hand, that the owners of these teams will see improved performance of their phones . On the other hand, the new adaptive icons and the Picture-in-Picture (PiP) mode are essential, which will allow users to use another application while another is playing (it can be the maps, a video on YouTube, etc.).
Improving device performance will reduce the wear and tear caused by background applications . And new options will be introduced when it comes to controlling and managing notifications.
If you have a Samsung Galaxy S8 or S8 + and you live in Spain, you will most likely still have to wait a little longer. We do not know how many days or weeks it will be. Remember, of course, that you can check if there are pending updates, accessing the Settings section > Software update> Manual download.
