Common Motorola Moto X problems and how to fix them

Motorola Moto X problems

Motorola has in its catalog a wide variety of devices that are part of the Moto X family . These are the Moto X (2013) , Moto X (2014) , Moto X Style and Moto X Play , the last two being their most recent releases. Each of them has been considered an affordable mid-range phone for the user at the time of its release on the market. They continue to sell quite well, their price is cheap with respect to their features, and they are the first models to update to the latest versions of Android , which makes it easy for them to be always up to date.

Yet none of them is or has been without problems and failures. Many users have complained about problems with the battery, the WiFi connection or the general performance when handling them. In this regard, software updates have tried to correct this . Keeping them up-to-date can help our Moto X have a long and prosperous life. Anyway, let's see what kind of problems they usually give and how we can solve them.

Motorola Moto X problems

1. My Moto X has problems with WiFi connectivity

If this is your case, the first thing you should do is restart the phone. If when you start it again you still have problems with the WiFi connection , we recommend that you try to disconnect or delete it to add it again. This means that the next time you try to connect to that network, you will have to re-enter the password. You can also try restarting the wireless router or changing the WiFi frequency band in Settings> WiFi> Advanced options> WiFi frequency band. Switching between 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz, and Auto sometimes fixes the problem.

2. My Moto X's battery drains very quickly

Battery drain for no apparent reason is a very normal problem after a software update. The most common reason is incompatibilities between applications. To clear the app cache, go to Settings> Apps and click on an individual app. If you want to clear the cache for all of them at once, go to Settings> Storage> data cache. If after this the battery problems continue, it is best to make a full backup of your most important data and reset the device to factory settings. Also make sure that you have activated the saving mode switch in Settings> Battery.

3. My Moto X freezes or crashes

This is a bit more serious. Or it could be due to a problem with an application, or the system itself. Once again, make sure you have the latest software update installed on your phone. To identify if it's the system or an app, you can try restarting your Moto X in safe mode, as this feature disables all third-party apps you have installed. If your Moto X still crashes or freezes in safe mode, it is clearly due to the system, not an app. To activate safe mode, touch the power key and hold the Power off option . Click OK when Restart in safe mode appears .
