One of the most anticipated features in Windows 10 is Cortana . This voice assistant is destined to become a key piece in the Windows universe , especially on smartphones and tablets but also on your desktop computer. Through it we can carry out file or web searches, open applications or access certain system configurations. However, it is currently only available in English . If you have installed the previous version of Windows 10 on your computer, we will tell you in a few steps how to activate this tool in the language of Shakespeare.
As we said a moment ago, the first obvious requirement is to have installed the Windows 10 beta ( Windows 10 Technical Preview ). The first thing we have to do is access the Windows 10 configuration. To do this, we open the start menu and click on the “ Settings ” icon that is among the options on the left. Among the icons that appear on the next screen, we are interested in the one named " Time and language ". Once there, we click on the " Region and language " submenu . By default, the country that appears selected is Spain. For this trick to work, we will have to select the United States option. In addition, if the list of languages still does not include English, we must click on " Add a language " and choose between the languages " English (United States) ".
Once this language has been added, click on it and make it our main language (option " Set as main "). After this step, we must close and reopen the session on the computer we are using. Interestingly, if we have other computers synchronized with the same account, even in Windows 8 , the language change is automatic. It happened to us in the office. In that case, just change the keyboard from "ENG" to "ESP" via the icon at the bottom right of the taskbar.
It may take a while to log in. It is also advisable to download the English language pack . The way to do this is to click on the " Language " icon , then " Options " and download the package if it is not already installed. Now we click on the Windows 10 search bar . A dropdown should appear with the image of the day and various popular news items. To activate " Cortana ", click on the three horizontal bars at the top and then " Settings ". Just below the question “ Do you want Cortana to work for you? ”We go from OFF to ON. After this a small circle should appear in the search bar itself. Every time we press it, " Cortana " opens . At first, this wizard will ask us for our name . Through this wizard, we can carry out different voice searches, both in our applications and on the Internet, and we can access the latest news or traffic status among other options. A good way to practice English before this assistant is available in Spanish, something that could take several months.
