These are HP's sustainable development projects

The environmental crisis shows us a framework full of uncertainty and concern that should not leave anyone indifferent. Our societies are at a crossroads  where we must make the tough decision of where to go. The consequences of globalization, demographic changes and the increase of huge population centers must be dealt with by a change in our individual and collective life habits.

Aware of the need to develop a sustainable awareness of what is to come , from HP they want to address the issue. The purpose of the company is to transform businesses and drive companies towards a more efficient and circular economy, which will have a positive impact on their business results.

From HP they point out that this project meets almost all of the Sustainable Development Goals set by the UN  on climate change, sustainable development and environmental protection. Let's see its most significant points.

Objectives of social responsibility

According to data from HP's Sustainable Impact programs, these yielded very positive results for the company . No less than 35% year-on-year growth between 2017 and 2018, which translates into more than $ 972 million in new revenue.

Furthermore, a recent HP study reveals the importance of developing good practices in social engagement if companies want to attract and retain the best talent. In this sense, workers are more productive and motivated when they work for a company that encourages programs of this type .

In the case of Spain, 60% of those surveyed consider that sustainability is absolutely necessary and that the environmental impact on companies cannot continue to be ignored.

Circular economy and respect for the environment

Circular economy and respect for the environment

The objective is very clear, any model based on the idea of "use and throw" will have to adapt or disappear. HP has been promoting the use of efficient and reusable materials with the idea of reaching 1.2 million tons in 2025 . Additionally, the company continues to strengthen its initiative to prevent discarded plastic from reaching rivers and oceans.

Hence the importance of its HP Planet Partners program, thanks to which many customers have been able to recycle millions of kilos of plastic from Original HP ink and toner cartridges for free, preventing them from reaching the sea. Since 2000, they have managed to keep 325,000 kilos of plastic from flowing into the oceans,  the equivalent of more than 25 million plastic bottles.

Diversity and inclusion

For HP, diversity and inclusion start at the top. In Spain, for example,  the Management Committee is made up of 45% women . But it does not stop there, rather the company extends this commitment to the way it works with its own suppliers. In 2018 alone, HP invested $ 423 million in SMEs and another $ 219 million in minority and women-owned businesses.

Diversity and inclusion

More opportunities for communities

From HP they are convinced that, through technological innovation, the educational and economic gap can be alleviated for millions of people around the world without resources. Through 2017, HP has reached more than 21 million youth and adult students , driving progress toward its own goal of enabling 100 million people to learn by 2025.
