After a good number of rumors and leaks, Nikon has just announced a new member of its much talked about System 1 mirrorless interchangeable lens cameras. The new Nikon 1 J2 maintains the basic features of its predecessor, the J1 , with its 10 megapixels , its sensor CMOS of an inch and design staff and away from defending retro fashion brands. Its price is not yet known in our country, but it seems that it will be somewhat more affordable if we are guided by the 550 dollars it will cost on the other side of the pond with the 10-30mm f / 3.5-5.6 lens .
The System 1 for Nikon is Japan's proposal for the sector of compact interchangeable lens cameras. This category of cameras is increasingly popular among the main brands, and even the two largest manufacturers of professional cameras have had to present their version of Mirrorless camera: Nikon with System 1 , and Canon with the new EOS M that we presented to you ago few days.
Returning to our protagonist, the new Nikon J2 presents the same design as the previous version, the J1 , although this time the case has a metallic finish. The J2 offers a modern and functional look, with a personal and elegant design that ignores the retro style of other competitive models. It is a compact camera, and as such, its dimensions are 106.0 x 61.0 x 29.8 millimeters, counting only the body. To the five previously available colors - white, black, silver, pink and red - a striking new orange finish has been added .
Another novelty with respect to the model of last year is the screen, which maintains its size of three inches you, but doubles its resolution, from the 460,000 pixels of J1 to 920,000 New J2 . New creative modes such as Smooth Filter , panoramic image capture or Night Portrait mode have also been included .
The rest of the characteristics remain the same. The sensor is a CMOS with a size of an inch, the resolution is ten megapixels , and equipped with the same system hybrid autofocus by phase detection for brilliant photos or in motion, and contrast detection if the object of the photo is still or poorly lit. Likewise, the processor is still the Expeed 3 of the previous models, and the shooting speed is reaffirmed as one of the data to take into account in the Nikon 1 , being able to reach 60 photos per second , with the autofocus locked.
Regarding the video mode, the Nikon 1 J2 allows us to record with Full HD resolution (1920 x 1080 pixels) with the help of the autofocus system to get an image as sharp as possible. In addition, the J2 offers us the possibility of taking photos at the maximum resolution while recording video. These pictures have an exact size of 3,840 x 2,160 pixels , and an aspect ratio of 16: 9 .
Accompanying the new J2 , Nikon has also introduced a new target for the cameras of the system 1 , with a focal range from 11 to 27.75 mm , more compact than 10-30 mm . which is included with the J1 standard kit . And taking advantage of the summer pull, a new underwater housing for the J1 and J2 cameras has also been unveiled , which will allow us to dive with them to a depth of 40 meters .
The new Nikon J2 will be available from next September , and although its official price is not yet known, we do know that in the USA it will be available for about $ 550 with the 10-30 mm lens , a price somewhat lower than the rate. launch of the previous J1 last year.
