Along with the OLED 973, Philips has introduced two other models with OLED panel. The Philips OLED 873 is the successor to the Philips POS9002, the successful model that the company introduced in 2017. However, the new model grows to 65 inches and includes the new P5 Perfect Picture processor. It also has HDR10 + support, a three-sided Ambilight system and the Android TV operating system.
This model does not include the top model soundbar. However, the Philips OLED 873 equips three-ring technology for powerful sound. It also includes DTS HD Premium Suit technology. In short, a 4K UHD OLED TV that will offer the same image quality to users who do not need the integrated sound bar . The Philips OLED 873 will hit the market in the coming months, although its price is still unknown.

P5 and HDR10 + processor
Philips has decided to provide the entire 2018 OLED TV range with very similar features. Thus, it is only some design or sound details that differentiate some models from others. The Philips OLED 873 also includes the P5 Perfect Picture image processor . This processor uses a 5-in-1 image processing system. Its goal is to optimize sharpness, color, contrast, and movement. It is even capable of reducing some image defects, offering better quality in lower resolution sources.
The Philips OLED 873 combines the new image processor with the pure black of OLED technology. In addition, the company has achieved a maximum brightness of 900 Nits , a fairly high figure for an OLED TV. This makes the TV seamlessly meet the standard for UHD Premium certification . Also Philips' own HDR Perfect standard, both for HDR10 and HLG content. And, like its older brother, also for HDR10 +, which will arrive through an update .
Known design
As we mentioned before, the Philips OLED 873 is the successor to the POS9002. Something that confirms its design, very similar to that of the 2017 model. The TV has a brushed aluminum frame, with the central "Cradle" support . The latter consists of a thin metal support with small rear legs. All the leading role remains for the panel.
Along with a very "light" stand, we have an extremely slim chassis . This, as usual, fattens at the bottom to locate all the necessary electronics. On the other hand, the frame that surrounds the screen is really thin, giving the panel all the prominence again.
The sound of the television is handled by Philips' three-ring technology . This gives the speakers more room to move, which translates into more powerful sound. In addition, the Philips 873 includes DTS HD Premium Suit technology , which offers high-end sound processing for improved sound from the speakers.
Price and availability
The Philips OLED 873 also includes two of the coolest features of the company's televisions. On the one hand we have the exclusive three-sided Ambilight system . It is a lighting system that surrounds the television and improves the immersion in the content we are watching.
And, on the other hand, we have the Android TV operating system . Specifically, it comes with Android M installed and certified by Google. That is, we can use the Play Store application store to install practically everything.
In addition, the television includes a Quad-Core processor so that the system moves smoothly. The Philips OLED 873 will hit the market very soon, only in 65 inches and with a price yet to be determined.
