Smartphones are very versatile devices that serve us for countless different tasks, including storing files. Any smartphone is loaded with important information like contacts, settings, photos, songs, and documents. Keeping all this information safe is very important, but we do not always take the necessary precautions. Telephone manufacturers usually offer a method to store backup copies of all content, so in the event that we lose the device or the information is deleted for whatever reason, we can always recover it. The Sony Xperia Z is Sony's flagshipand how could it be otherwise, it has its own software. It is the Sony PC Companion program , which allows us to perform different actions to synchronize, restore or save backup copies. We explain how to save all the data on your Xperia Z through Sony PC Companion and also through other separate services like Google, which is just as effective.
When we connect the Xperia Z to the computer with the USB cable, a message appears on the device for us to install Sony PC Companion , if we press accept, a message will automatically appear on the computer to start the download. When we have it installed and keeping the terminal connected, we can open the program and go to the Copy and restore option . Within this menu we select Make backup copy and a new window will open where we can choose which elements we want to store, by default everything is selected. When we click on accept, it will begin to collect data, this process may take a few minutes. Then the program will notify us that it is ready to start the copy, the time will depend on the amount of files that we have stored in the Xperia Z.
When it finishes copying all the data, the program allows us to consult the content of the copy. The images, contacts, settings and all the details of the device are in the backup which is a file with a DBK extension, so if we lose the information we can always recover it again. However, it is important to carry out this process continuously, for example every two weeks, since if we lose the information but it has been a long time since we have kept a copy, there will be irrecoverable data. Sony PC Companion stores copies in My Documents / Sony / Sony PC Companion / Backups.
This method is used to save all the content of the Sony Xperia Z, but there are other ways to save important data without resorting to this program. For example Google offers the option of synchronizing information remotely. In this way we can access from any other device, we simply have to log in with our Google account. From the Settings - Accounts menu , we can choose what content will be synchronized with Google such as Contacts, Chrome bookmarks , Calendars , Google Drive , downloaded applications , Photos, email and much more. Finally Dropbox is also an interesting option to save the photos automatically and then access them from any device that has the application installed.
