Huawei has not wanted to close the year without renewing one of its most demanded mid-ranges. We refer to the Huawei P Smart, which in its 2019 edition has improved in performance and design. The company now gives more prominence to the panel, taking it to infinity and reducing the frames as much as possible. However, the trend for the front-facing on-screen camera has not been targeted. The Huawei P Smart 2019 includes a notch or notch in the shape of a drop of water, which, certainly, is not too distracting.

The new Huawei P Smart 2019 boasts what the manufacturer calls “Huawei Dewdrop Display”. In other words, a 6.21-inch panel with a 19.5: 9 aspect ratio, which replaces the upper bezel with a notch in the shape of a drop of water, reducing the lower frame noticeably. The resolution of this screen is FullHD + (2,340 × 1,080) and offers a pixel density of 415 dpi, as well as support for 85% of the NTSC color gamut.

The design of the Huawei P Smart 2019 is really pretty. The phone wears a glossy, ceramic-like back, embedded in a 3D curved unibody body. It can be purchased in two different colors: Aurora Blue or Midnight Black. Likewise, the company has reported that it has thoroughly tested the components of the equipment in its laboratory, confirming that both the fingerprint reader and the power button are capable of withstanding 200,000 keystrokes.

Inside the Huawei P Smart 2019 there is room for a Kirin 710 processor, a chip that works at a speed of up to 2.2 GHz and is manufactured with 12nm process technology. This SoC is accompanied in turn by a RAM of 3 GB and a storage capacity of 64 GB (expandable by using microSD type cards). It also has a GPU Turbo 2.0, powered by Artificial Intelligence. According to Huawei, it doubles the power efficiency of the graphics and improves its performance by 30%.

On a photographic level, the P Smart 2019 includes a dual sensor of 13 and 2 megapixels. The main camera is comprised of a 5p f / 1.8 large aperture lens with a virtual aperture range of f / 0.95-16. Artificial Intelligence manages to recognize more than 500 scenes to improve the details at the moment of capture. There is also no lack of image stabilization and the popular Night Mode for low light situations.

Inside the notch, on the front, we find an 8 megapixel sensor with f / 2.0 aperture and new functions related to Augmented Reality and Artificial Intelligence. It also includes gesture control or a Portrait Mode to beautify self-portraits.

For the rest, the Huawei P Smart 2019 is governed by Android 9 under EMUI 9.0 and equips a 3,400 mAh battery with an intelligent management system . Huawei has commented during the presentation that this battery is capable of holding up to 10 hours browsing 4G networks, 18 hours playing video and up to 96 hours playing music.

The Huawei P Smart 2019 will go on sale from next January 15 at a price of 250 euros. It will only be sold in a single version of 3 GB of RAM + 64 GB of storage (expandable). Of course, you can choose in two colors: Midnight Black and Aurora Blue.
