Instagram suspends the account of thousands of porn actors and actresses

Everyone knows that the rules of behavior of Instagram are quite questionable. Without a doubt, the effort they make in persecuting those who harass or incite hatred is laudable, in addition to wanting to mitigate the frequent cases of low esteem by eliminating the 'likes' and, with them, the dictatorship of the like. But they still have a double standard when it comes to, for example, nudity. A woman cannot show a nipple in an Instagram photo because her photo will be deleted and her account canceled. However, a man can. In this double standard we can find the new case that has shaken this social network and in which thousands of professionals of adult content have been involved.

Accounts canceled for posting innocent photos

As we read on The Next Web page, the American Adult Performers Actors Guild, a professional association of porn actors and actresses, has been denouncing that more than a thousand of its partners have lost their Instagram account because, according to the social network, 'go on against the norms of behavior 'contained in its regulations. The problem is that, although the accounts belong to people who dedicate their lives to producing pornographic content that involves nudity and non-simulated sexual acts, the accounts are terminated without nudity or other objectionable behavior. This is how we can see it in the following tweet from one of those affected.

In the image you can see a girl sitting on a pumpkin picking. There is nothing in the image that is inciting hatred, violence, nudity or spam or any other abusive content. What's more, it is a fairly innocent image. Well, Instagram has thought it appropriate to close the account, I'm sure you can appeal, and they will return it, but the damage has been done, especially because they are accounts of people who live off their public image and direct contact with their followers.

According to the same article, Facebook and Instagram are guided by a very dangerous double standard , in which they allow saying things like 'women are garbage' but, at the same time, the phrase 'men are garbage' is considered a hate crime . And while they censor photos of girls with pumpkins they allow these others in which women are treated as trophies.

Until social networks move forward and have a proper content filter , we will have to continue attending shows of this caliber. Meanwhile, it is our responsibility to make responsible use of them.
