For those users who want to get in touch with the Android world or who are looking for a cheap mobile, the company born in Spain  weimei has launched the weimei neon . This model is committed to the five-inch format , comes with a casual design with  four different colors for its case and has a really useful feature: a tool to use two WhatsApp on the same phone . Its price in the market is  100 euros. We have had the opportunity to test it in depth, we will tell you what our impressions are.

Double WhatsApp

Nowadays, having a mobile with a dual SIM card is an important advantage. Above all, if we are used to carrying two different mobiles for personal issues and for work . However, there is a limitation that can be quite annoying in most computers of this type, and it is the fact of having to choose only one of the lines to be able to use WhatsApp (at least, at the same time).

One of the great attractions of the weimei neon is the use of a tool to enjoy a double WhatsApp directly , without the need to install other additional apps. The operation is very simple, although it must be recognized that it may go unnoticed at first. And is that to use this function, you must first activate it. To do this, you have to go to the phone settings , the security section and activate the "WhatsApp avatar".

In the field of the screen, the best news is that its panel reaches a size of 5 inches . It also has an acceptable level of brightness, although it suffers a bit when we face it outdoors on a sunny day. In general, this panel offers a tactile response to match, although it is true that it lacks the finesse that we can find in higher-end models of the brand itself. The screen resolution stands at 854 x 480 pixels, which leaves us with a density of  196 dots per inch . This level is good for normal use of navigation or simple apps, but it falls short when we face the smartphone with videos or movies.

16GB internal memory and limited technical suite

Without a doubt, one of the best news that the weimei neon brings us is its internal memory of 16 GB . It is a space that entrance teams do not usually bet on - they usually stay at 8 GB - and that difference is noticeable on a day-to-day basis. And it is that as soon as we install apps and store photos from the camera and WhatsApp , the internal capacity of the smartphone will begin to fill. In the event that we fall short, we also have the option to expand the space through a microSD card . In our tests on AnTuTu Benchmark and Geekbench 3 , the weimei neon has confirmed our impressions. In the first of the tests, the team scored a score of 22,670 points , while in Geekbench 3 it reaches 1,262 points.

Cameras to get out of trouble

The weimei neon is not a mobile that will surprise us with its photographic capacity. In fact, their cameras are designed for basic use, without great fanfare.  The main lens of the neon has a resolution of 5 megapixels with flash and autofocus. Its results are not great, but we can get some curious photos in favorable conditions. Another thing is the photos we take when there is little light. One of the modes that we have been surprised (for good) to find in this lens is the HDR mode. This mode is used to improve the result in photos at sunset or when there is a lot of contrast in light. What the camera does is layer multiple shots to make colors appear more vibrant. We would also like to highlight the GIF mode , to create these nice moving images that can give us a lot of play. Unsurprisingly, the video recording has a maximum quality of 720p.

On the other hand, the front camera of the neon stays at 2 megapixels, without flash and with few additions. In case you want to take selfies, we would recommend using the main camera to get higher quality photos.

Operating system and connections

It is one of the good news that the weimei neon leaves us . Despite being a terminal that moves in the most basic range, the company has wanted to strengthen its possibilities with the use of the latest version of Android 6.0 Marshmallow. This decision seems like a great success to be able to enjoy the latest news from the Google platform . The Spanish-born company has also incorporated its own layer of software to personalize the experience of using this phone.

For example, we really like the neon lock screen . The image that appears in the background can be changed automatically by simply dragging your finger sideways . At any time, we can click on the pin icon in the upper right to set the background image that we like the most. In addition, the user has the option of choosing images from their gallery to incorporate them into the carousel.

In the field of connections, we are facing a model that is capable of connecting to high-speed 4G networks with up to 150 Mbps download and 50 Mbps download. Without a doubt, a good attraction if we want to download videos or browse constantly. It also incorporates the rest of the usual connections, with WiFi to connect at home and save on data, Bluetooth to synchronize with compatible devices or GPS to move with different navigation apps.

Autonomy

The weimei neon incorporates a 2,300 milliamp battery . It is a good capacity for the screen size in which we move, and for the characteristics of its processor and screen (being more limited, energy consumption is lower). In our tests, we have been able to use this terminal without problems beyond a day and even a day and a half. Another advantage of the neon is the fact that its battery is removable, which gives us a greater margin of maneuver when having more than one battery (for long trips) or when replacing its battery with another with Over time.

In our autonomy tests, the team reaches a score of 5,449 points. It is not a high value but it is evident that it is a phone that does not require the same level of use as a higher-end smartphone, which favors a longer use time.

Price and reviews

The price is one of the great workhorses of this mobile. Its cost of only 100 euros make it an option to consider for users who want to jump to a smartphone for the first time, or who want to make basic use of their terminal without major complications. Taking occasional photos, browsing, sending WhatsApp ... Precisely, one of the points that weimei wanted to insist the most on is its tool to enjoy two WhatsApp accounts on the same phone (using two different lines).

We also liked other details such as the internal memory of 16 GB -normally mobiles in this price range stay at a maximum of 8 GB-, the HDR mode of its main camera or being able to enjoy the latest version of Android 6.0 Marshmallow. On the other hand, its technical set is quite limited and it has been common for some more demanding apps to get stuck for a few seconds. In short, if you are looking for a mobile for 100 euros , the weimei neon is an option to consider.
