Huawei P9 Lite, all the keys and analysis

After many rumors about whether or not a trimmed version of the company's new flagship actually existed, the Huawei P9 Lite finally went official. Like last year, this new terminal comes to try to become one of the best devices in the mid-range of Android . A terminal with the last name Lite in its name, but that has nothing small. A terminal that incorporates a screen of 5.2 inches with resolution Full HD , processor eight - core , camera 13 megapixel camera and Android 6.0 . Taking advantage of its imminent official launch in Europe, we are going to do an in-depth review of the features of the Huawei P9 Lite .

Design and display

The Huawei P9 Lite offers a design practically identical to that of its older brother, the Huawei P9 . The company has used a unibody design again, but whether it will be in metal or not remains to be confirmed. In the photographs it looks metallic, but the Huawei P8 Lite also managed to deceive the eye, even in live, but it was made of plastic. We will have to wait to get our hands on it.

On the front we have high-resistance glass that covers the screen, the upper frame in which the front camera is located and the lower frame, in which we have the printed brand. On one of the sides we find the power and volume buttons, and on the other side we have the slot for the SIM card. At the back we have the main camera located at the top, attached to one of the corners. And also in the back we have one of the novelties of this year, the fingerprint reader . The inclusion of a fingerprint reader is becoming common, even in mid-range terminals such as the Huawei P9 Lite .

The full dimensions of the Huawei P9 Lite stand at  146.8 x 72.6 x 7.5 millimeters,  along with a weight of  147 grams . The new terminal of the Chinese company will be available in three colors: white, black and gold .

Another improvement that the Huawei P9 Lite brings compared to its predecessor is the screen. The new terminal midrange of the Chinese company incorporates a screen of 5.2 inches with resolution Full HD 1,920 x 1,080 pixels , compared to the screen with HD resolution incorporating the P8 Lite . That is, the screen is equated with that of the Huawei P9 itself or with that of other high-end Chinese equipment, such as the Xiaomi Mi 5 . The pixel density stays at 424 dots per inch . While it is true that some high-end devices opt for a Quad HD resolution, with the screen sizes in which we move from Full HD resolution it is very difficult (if not impossible) to appreciate pixels in normal phone use . However, the quality jump between an HD screen and a Full HD screen is remarkable, something that we will notice in the P9 Lite compared to the P8 Lite .

Processor and memory

In addition to an interesting screen, the Huawei P9 Lite incorporates a powerful Kirin 650 octa-core processor manufactured by the company itself. Four of the cores run at 2 GHz and the other four cores run at 1.7 GHz . This processor is accompanied by 2 or 3 GB of RAM , depending on the configuration we select. It again outperforms its predecessor in this regard, including a more modern processor with a higher clock speed, as well as more RAM, at least in the 3GB configuration. The internal memory that incorporates the device is 16 GB capacity, an amount that seems fair but is quite common in mid-range devices. However, this capacity can be expanded by using microSD cards of up to 128 GB capacity. It is even possible that a version with 32 GB capacity will arrive  in Europe , yet to be confirmed.

Cameras

The photographic set of the Huawei P9 Lite is up to the rest of the terminal's features. The main camera incorporates a 13 megapixel BSI AF sensor with LED flash . The front camera incorporates a sensor with 8 megapixels , more than enough to take some selfies with very good quality. There was expectation to see if Huawei incorporated the Leica dual camera in the P9 Liteof its flagship, but, of course, it has not. Companies always keep special characteristics for their high-end terminals. What we still do not know is if the camera incorporates any improvement or is it the same 13 megapixel camera with Sony's BSI sensor that the Huawei P8 Lite mounted .

Connectivity and autonomy

Regarding connectivity, the Huawei P9 Lite is compatible with 4G networks and incorporates WiFi 802.11b / g / n and WiFi Direct . GPS and NFC connectivity cannot be missing . The battery included in the Huawei P9 Lite is 3,000 milliamps , an amount on the same level as higher-end terminals. When we carry out the in-depth analysis we will check how it performs.

The Huawei P9 Lite will come standard with  Android 6.0 Marshmallow along with the brand's own EMUI 4.1 customization layer  . The terminal will be available in the next few days with a price of 300 euros . While it is true that the price is higher than last year's model, the technical characteristics and, especially, the screen, more than justify this price increase.
