It is a small-sized tablet, but the truth is that it has enviable performance. It is the SPC Glow 7 , a device developed by the SPC company that has a 7-inch IPS screen , capable of offering optimal vision even in broad daylight. To this characteristic, essential for a more comfortable handling of all the functions of the equipment, we must add a good low-consumption quad-core processor that will not immediately drain the battery of the equipment. This chip works together with a graphics card (GPU) that will offer users a much more solid experience when playing video games and other applications with a high graphic load.
As part of the SPC teams , this SPC Glow 7 works through Google icons . The version chosen for the occasion is Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean) , one of the most recent on the market. This will give users access to the main Google services , as well as Google Play , a store with more than 600,000 applications ready to download. It is light and easy to store in any purse or purse, so it will be most practical for those users who do not want to carry too much weight. Another advantage is in the price. And it is that the new SPC Glow 7 will have a cost of120 euros in the free market .
Design and display
What strikes us the most about this tablet is its thin and light design. It is much thinner (just 8 millimeters thick) than other tablets in use and only weighs 280 grams (with the battery included). This makes it an ideal device to take anywhere, since it is easy to hold (to read the news while traveling on the metro, for example) and it is very convenient to store without taking up too much space. For the rest, it has a very pleasant to the touch aluminum casing that does not slip and that adjusts perfectly to the ergonomics of the hands. At the moment, SPC only offers it in a very discreet silver color that is combined with a white frame.
This frame gives way to one of the most important elements of the team: the screen . On this occasion, SPC wanted to provide this device with a 7-inch multi-touch HD panel , with a resolution of 1024 x 600 pixels and a 16: 9 aspect ratio.
It is not very common for entry-level tablets to have a powerful camera . In fact, some do not even have a rear camera to take photos in acceptable quality. Fortunately, this is not the case with the SPC Glow 7 . Tablet occupying leads integrated a camera with two - megapixel sensor . It is a fairly fair system, which will be of great use to us on those occasions when we need to take a photo, even if it is in low quality . As you can imagine, the camera on the SPC Glow 7it does not incorporate extraordinary functions such as flash, geotagging or image stabilization. Nothing is further from reality. It must be said, however, that this camera will allow us to record HD video up to @ 720 and 60 fps , which is not bad either. In addition, on the front of the equipment we will find a second camera located in that position to make video calls and even self-portraits . Its quality, in this case, is also minimal.
Memory and power
The SPC Glow 7 works through a processor (CPU) with quad-core architecture ( Quad Core Cortex A7 ) at a clock frequency of 1.2 GHz . It is a low consumption chip that combines its features with the necessary Multi Core Power VR SGX graphics card (GPU) . Users of this device will notice the advantages of this tandem when executing the main functions of the tablet , but above all, when launching the most complex applications and video games with a high load of graphics. But this is not all. Because this SPC Glow also has a 1 GB RAM memory, necessary to support the team and provide maximum fluidity in the management of applications.
The internal memory , the one in which the user can store all kinds of content (photos, videos, music…) and applications, is encrypted at 8 GB , but is expandable with microSD cards of up to 32 GB .
Operating system and applications
Like most of the SPC equipment , this SPC Glow 7 works through Google's mobile and tablet operating system . Specifically, it has installed Android version 4.2.2 (Jelly Bean) , one of the latest that this company has made available to its customers. But this is not all we can tell about this version. Apart from incorporating multiple improvements that optimize the operation of the platform, it has direct access to the main functions and services of Google . We refer to the following: Google Search, Google Maps, Gmail, Picasa, YouTube, Google+, Google Calendar , etc. Likewise, users can also connect toGoogle Play , the application store that this company makes available to its customers with more than 600,000 proposals , including free and paid.
The SPC Glow 7 is a tablet prepared for connectivity through WiFi 802.11 b / g / n networks , but not for access from 3G networks . In this way, users can surf the Internet from a wireless connection at home, in the office or anywhere else with WiFi available . It also supports Bluetooth 2.1 technology, which means that users can transfer content with other computers or sync accessories that work wirelessly. In the section of physical connections, it has a USB OTG input and an HDMI 1.4 outputwhich will be very useful to export multimedia content to larger screens or to enjoy streaming playback . Also it has an output of 3.5 mm headphone jack ( a must for music listening in silence) and a microSD slot that will serve to expand the internal memory of the computer.
Music, video, photos and multimedia
In the multimedia section, this SPC Glow 7 meets the basics. We know that it will be perfectly capable of playing music, video and photo files in the main most used formats. This includes the following: H.264, MPEG-4, H.263, VC-1, WMV7, WMV8, Sorenson Spark, MP43, VP8, HEVC, MP3, AAC / AACï¼ ‹/ eAAC＋, WMA, AMR-NB / WB, Vorbis, FLAC and WAV . Additionally, it has JAVA support , a language necessary to reproduce certain web content and applications. Otherwise, users who wish to can use this device as a video and image shuttle thanks to the HDMI 1.4 connectioncompatible with any larger screen: the living room TV, for example. Another interesting option is to connect to any streaming platform . One of the most celebrated is, without a doubt, YouTube . In this way, users can take advantage of the seven-inch screen to watch videos in a larger size, anytime, anywhere and completely free of charge.
Autonomy and availability
The SPC Glow 7 has a built- in lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 3,000 milliamps . This piece should offer users a long-lasting autonomy, of about two days running at full capacity. However, it must be taken into account that the battery life can depend on many external factors such as the functions activated, the use made by each user of the equipment, the state of the network, the temperature or the state of the Battery.
SPC makes the SPC Glow 7 available in the Spanish market from this month of November 2013 for 120 euros . It can be found in the usual stores.
SPC expands its large catalog of Android tablets with a brilliant bet. The new SPC Glow 7 is a piece that has many advantages, starting with those that are directly linked to design. And the tablet has a minimum thickness of 8 mm and weighs only 280 grams . It is a lightweight and comfortable device that integrates a 7-inch HD screen and works through a powerful quad-core processor . We find it certainly advantageous that it is a low consumption chip that will not drastically reduce autonomyof the team. This is very important. The camera is one of its weaknesses, since it barely has 2 megapixels, although the truth is that most equipment of this class does not even usually incorporate a rear camera.
It is compatible with WiFi networks , so we will have to rule out the possibility of accessing the Internet through 3G networks . It has, however, other important functions such as an HDMI 1.4 output and a battery that even reaches 3,000 milliamps . Finally, the price of the equipment is a must. And it is that users can get it for just 120 euros .
