Nokia 130

Nokia 130 01

It is a simple, practical and inexpensive mobile phone. It is called Nokia 130 and it is the new proposal that Microsoft Devices has just presented to complete its large range of basic mobile phones. And although in Spain the penetration rate of smartphones reached about 54% this July (Ontsi), there is still a significant segment of the population that prefers to carry a lifelong mobile phone in their pocket  . The Nokia 130 runs away from sophistication and those functions that some users will never implement. A non-touch screen is enough and more than enough, a basic alphanumeric keyboard that can fulfill the most primary tasks. It is, as we would say simply, a telephone to call and send messages . Little more.

And we say little more because in spite of everything, the Nokia 130 fulfills an interesting function, which is that of playing music . Thanks to its internal capacity, expandable with microSD cards of up to 32 GB , users of this equipment can enjoy their favorite music or favorite radio programs, simply by connecting a pair of headphones . And if you like this function, you will like the autonomy more. Unlike today's big smartphones , requiring little power to run, the Nokia 130 can last up to 36 days on . Soon it will be available in some selected markets and free will only cost 20 euros.

Design and display

The Nokia 130 is a mobile phone with a monobloc format that complies with dimensions of 10.6 x 45.5 x 13.9 mm and a light weight of 68.6 grams , with battery included. As you can see, it is a lightweight device that the user can carry in his pocket without hardly knowing. The front of the equipment is practically taken from the screen, which despite not being touch, has a size of 1.8 inches (diagonally) and boasts a QQVGA resolution of 160 x 128 pixels, maximum. It is an LCD panel that works through transmissive technology and has a density of up to 114 dots per inch. This panel combines its operation in a mandatory way with a basic alphanumeric keyboard that will allow us to write messages and dial numbers in an agile way. At the top, we also find a start button and the classic menu keys and hang up and pick up calls .

At the back of the case we find the speaker and the flashlight, a feature that will especially appeal to those who love practicality. Microsoft Devices will make it available to customers in three different colors: red, black and white .

Camera and multimedia

The Nokia 130 does not include a camera, so it is an ideal mobile phone for those users who have no intention of capturing images with their device. Yes, it is ready, it must be said, to play music in the main compatible formats: MP3, AAC LC, MIDI, Wav, AAC, MP3 and MIDI , but also video (30fps), with the extensions H.263, MPEG-4, M-JPEG, 3GP, MP4 and AVI , which are the ones mentioned in the official data sheet. There is, on the other hand, an important characteristic that enables the reproduction of content. We refer to the ability to expand the internal memory of the phone with microSD cards of up to 32 GB . In this way, users can always carry their favorite songs and albums. These contents can be alternated with the FM Radio function , very useful for lovers of radio waves. To better enjoy music, users have a 3.5 mm headphone output , located on the top of the equipment.

Memory

Unfortunately, the Nokia 130 is not a ready phone with a large internal memory. In fact, according to its technical sheet, the device barely has space for 500 entries in the contact book . This means that to enjoy extra multimedia content, it will be necessary to have a microSD card (maximum 32 GB) that the user will have to buy separately. In this way, by spending a small extra amount, we can turn the Nokia 130 into a true pocket media player.

Operating system and applications

The Nokia 130 is equipped with a basic operating system. The same one that Nokia has used all this time for its simpler phones. It is the Nokia Series 30+ version , developed to be as user-friendly as possible for users. And so it is. One of the great advantages of this version is that it is the platform of a lifetime, with which users who have already used Nokia terminals and want to repeat will feel much more comfortable. As if this were not enough, it should be noted that the phone also includes access to such useful applications as the Calculator , the Alarm or Nokia Slam, a tool that will help us to share files through Bluetooth . We have to mention, on the other hand, the LED diode that is installed in the rear case and that can function as a flashlight.

Nokia 130 05

Connectivity

As we indicated at the beginning, the Nokia 130 is not a phone prepared for connectivity , so those users who want to stay online will always have to look for another alternative. In this case, we are dealing with a device compatible with GSM networks , suitable for making calls and messages. Nothing else. Unfortunately, users will not be able to access any connection, not even through WiFi wireless networks . Fortunately, the phone does integrate a Bluetooth wireless port to synchronize accessories or transfer content between different computers. As for the physical connections, we can talk about a microUSB inputto transfer information between the computer and the phone or to charge the battery, in case we do not have the charger at hand. The device also includes a microSD card slot and a 3.5mm headphone jack . But this is not all. And it is that the Nokia 130 will have a second version that will have a double slot for SIM cards , which will allow users to enjoy two mobile lines in a single phone.

Autonomy and availability

Regarding its autonomy, we have to indicate that the Nokia 130 has a built-in battery with a capacity of 1,020 milliamps that will be enough to obtain a fair performance. In fact, the phone will show little wear and tear because it does not have a large screen, processor or camera. In this way, and according to Nokia's estimates , the phone should support a range of 36 days in standby , while in conversation, it could offer up to 13 hours . If you are one of those who usually play music and videos, the battery life can be extended to around 46 and 16 hours, respectively .

Regarding its availability, Nokia has already indicated that the distribution could start from the third quarter of the year in certain markets. Everything suggests that the equipment will be marketed in our country. The indicated sale price is 20 euros on the free market .
