We have spent the Reyes festivities and, with them, we have to take stock of the best-selling products. Tablets are not going through their best moment but there are still those who opt for them as they are a good format to view multimedia comfortably or read on a screen larger than that of a mobile phone. If we go to the Amazon store, we see how the Huawei Mediapad T5 leads the top of tablets sold, due to its estimable quality-price ratio. For 170 euros we can get a 10-inch device with Full HD resolution, an eight-core processor with 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of internal storage and a 5100 mAh battery.
On this occasion we count on that you already have it in your hand, and it could be the first terminal of the Huawei brand to go through them. You should know that this brand has its own personalization layer, called eMui and based on Android. A layer with its functions and peculiarities that you must make the most of to configure the tablet to your liking and that gives the best of results. And that will be our task today, to give you a series of tricks so that you have your tablet ready and take advantage, even better, of the gift that you just received. We started!
Do not miss these 5 tricks for the Huawei Mediapad T5
How to change the default launcher
The main application launcher 0 'Launcher' of each device is the one installed by the brand itself and the one that we see as soon as we turn on the computer for the first time. We can keep the one they want, or change it for another that offers us much more customization. We have, for example, Nova Launcher, one of the most downloaded from the Play Store, or the recent Lawnchair, which offers you an experience close to Android Stock. Thanks to third-party launchers we can also change the icons, the number of columns and rows on the desktop and many more options.
Very good, we already have it downloaded. But I still get Huawei's own. How do I change it? It is very simple, we just have to enter the 'Settings' application. Once inside, we access ' Default applications ' and then 'Activator'. We choose the one that we have downloaded and ready, we will have the launcher we want, the one that was previously the default is hidden.
Lower the resolution to save battery
The screen of this 10-inch tablet has a Full HD resolution, which is optimal for viewing multimedia content with good quality and without fear of seeing pixels. But there are those who settle for little and prioritize the autonomy of their equipment before watching the series in high definition. The Huawei tablet has an option with which we can reduce the Full HD and convert the HD (720p) , so we will be taking a few minutes from our battery to enjoy more time without having to connect it to the network.
To activate this function we enter, again, in the 'Settings' of the tablet. Next, we enter 'Battery' and finally 'Smart resolution '. We make sure to have the switch turned on so that the resolution goes down and thus saves battery. If we want to have the maximum resolution, we must leave the switch off.
Download and install custom themes
As with MIUI, in EMUI we can install custom themes to give our tablet or mobile another look. If you do not know how to do it, here I will detail it step by step. Do not lose detail.
The first thing we are going to do is enter the Play Store and put in the search engine 'EMUI Themes' and download some of the options that appear. The application 'Themes for Huawei / Honor / EMUI' is a very interesting and free option.
Once we have it installed, we open it. You have everything you need, new themes, fonts, wallpapers, icons ... even emoji packs. You just have to download what you want , go back to the 'Themes' application that you have pre-installed and choose the one you want . You can download and try the ones you like until you find the one you want.
Configure and program the reading mode
Something that the tablet is used a lot for is reading. And the blue light emitted by tablet screens can alter our sleep cycle , producing insomnia and very poor quality sleep. That is why eye health specialists advise applying a warm light filter to the screens to relax the view and not affect us too much in daily life.
In the Huawei Mediapad T5 tablet we can activate this function, whenever we want, or that it is activated only in certain time bands , for example, when the sunlight falls and the brightness must be dimmed so that it does not disturb the use of the tablet. To configure and program the reading mode of this tablet, we will proceed as follows.
We enter the 'Settings' and, then, in the 'Screen' section, we access the ' Reading mode ' section . In this screen we will be able to activate it, turning on the 'Reading mode' switch or program it, setting a start and end time. Likewise, we can adjust the intensity bar of the orange filter to have a more or less aggressive reading mode.
Free up space automatically
The Huawei Mediapad T5 tablet has a very cheap price and that should translate into some of its features. On this occasion, for example, we must be content with a storage space of 32 GB , perhaps a little scarce for these times. Of course, we have the ability to insert a microSD memory card to increase storage.
On the tablet we have an option to free up space automatically. To do this, we must enter the 'Settings' and then 'Storage'. On this screen you will be able to see how much space you have left and how much is dedicated to each element, be it apps, photos or videos. At the bottom we find ' Space Liberator '. Press this option and you will see how you save space in a single click.
