A few weeks ago Samsung presented the new Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 with a seven-inch screen. This model inaugurated the third generation of the company's oldest tablets but now we know that it will not be the only one, the Korean company has expanded the Galaxy Tab 3 family with two new models: one with a 10.1-inch screen and another with an eight-inch screen . In this case we are talking about the 8-inch Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 , a team that is located in the middle of this new range and that is committed to some more advanced technical features.
With a white design with smooth lines, this 8-inch Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 is presented as a handy and easy-to-carry tablet that does not lack for anything. It comes standard with Android 4.2 Jelly Bean and has several exclusive Samsung features. It has very varied connections and a five megapixel camera, a high resolution for this type of equipment. We tell you all the details of this new model.
Display and layout
The name of the team leaves little to the imagination, and is that Samsung has decided to add this tagline of the inches to distinguish the three models that already make up the Galaxy Tab 3 range. The terminal in question has a TFT- type panel with a diagonal of eight inches, a fairly wide area to display content without problems but at the same time is more manageable than the large format tablets. The resolution of the panel is 1,280 x 800 pixels, the usual in these cases, and its density rises to 189 ppi, which is not bad either. The panel dimensions are optimized for reading e-books,That is why the reading mode has been included that regulates the brightness so that we do not tire our eyes.
The design follows the same line that we saw with the seven-inch model. This is a tablet with organic and smooth lines that stands out above all for its profile of only 7.4 millimeters. The thinness helps to reduce the weight to 314 grams, undoubtedly an advantage to hold the terminal with one hand and that it is not heavy or uncomfortable. Samsung has respected the button configuration present in most of the mobile devices in its catalog. On the front we find the classic Samsung home key with two capacitive keys on the sides. On the right side is the sleep button and the volume control, on the other edge has been placed the slot to insert MicroSD cards with which to expand the memory.
Camera and multimedia
The 8-inch Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 offers a more complete photographic profile than its presentation siblings. The company has included a sensor five megapixel with autofocus and other basic functions such as geo-tagging and face detection for portraits come out best. The 8-inch Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 also records HD720p videos at 30 frames per second , a pity that it does not reach the maximum resolution (FullHD). On the front we find a 1.3 megapixel sensor to make video calls.
This model also has some exclusive functions focused on multimedia content such as Story Album, a new way to organize the photos and videos we capture, or Group Play , which allows us to share multimedia files with other compatible Samsung devices. The 8-inch Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 is focused on playing music or videos and that is why it is compatible with a wide variety of formats. In addition, the equipment includes Sound Alive and Dolby Surround systems so that the sound quality is much sharper and clearer.
Power and memory
The Galaxy Tab range has advanced components, although they do not have the most cutting-edge of the moment. An example of this detail would be the processor , a dual-core at 1.5 gigahertz , since it does not bet on the current trend of the high-end that offers quad-core chips. In any case, this piece together with the 1.5 Gb RAM is enough to offer fluid performance without jumps.
Samsung will sell the 8-inch Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 in two versions of capacity, one of 16 Gb and another of 32 Gb, however they have specified that the real free space will be 11.26 Gb and 26.16 Gb respectively . If we fall short with this capacity we can always resort to a MicroSD card , in this case they can have a maximum of 64 Gb.
Operating system and applications
As we said in the entry, this model will come standard with Android 4.2 Jelly Bean, the most current version of Google's icon system. The 8-inch Galaxy Tab 3 comes with the usual services pre-installed, we mean: YouTube, Gmail, Gtalk, Google Maps, Google Navigation, Google Latitude, Picasa, Google Plus, Google Play Store and the voice assistant Google Now -which has also been improved in this version.
On the other hand, Samsung includes some of its own functions such as the S Translator smart translator , S Travel -for the most traveling users- and Pop Up Video , a system to be able to watch videos in a floating window while doing another task at the same time. The company also includes the Samsung TouchWiz Nature interface that gives a cleaner touch to the system and has a very attractive design.
Connectivity and autonomy
As usual in most tablets, this 8-inch Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 will go on sale in a version that will connect to the Internet via Wi-Fi and another that allows access to mobile networks (3G at 21 Mbps or LTE at 100 Mbps , depending on markets). In addition also features antenna GPS Glonass, Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi Direct, jack for headphones and microUSB 2.0 port for battery charging or transferring data.
The 8-inch Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 battery is 4,450 milliamps, a large enough capacity so that we can use the equipment for several days without going through the plug, although if we give a more intensive use it may only last a full day and for the night we have to recharge the battery.
Feedback
The middle brother of the Galaxy Tab 3 range is positioned as a medium-sized tablet with very interesting features. It stands out that it has a five megapixel camera, more complete than the other models, and that its design is thinner and lighter. The terminal has been designed to watch videos, surf the Internet, play games or read electronic books with the greatest possible comfort. It also has some smart Samsung features that are interesting, comes standard with Android 4.2 Jelly Bean and offers a very complete connection profile. When looking for a problem, Samsung could have opted for a quad-core processor.
