Samsung has unveiled its new tablet with a screen that is out of the ordinary. The new Samsung Galaxy View 2 arrives with a 17.3-inch panel, somewhat more cut than that of its predecessor, which was 18.4 inches, but it is still really large. It is one of its hallmarks, but not the only one. The tablet includes a modern design, a 12,000 mAh battery or different exclusive functions from AT&T, the operator under which it has been put on sale in the United States. The Samsung Galaxy View 2 is not a tablet to carry around. And not only because of its huge 17.3-inch Full HD screen, but also because of its dimensions. The tablet is 17 millimeters thick and weighs 2.2 kilos, making it quite a heavy device. The idea of the company has not been to create a tablet to use, for that they already have the Galaxy Tab. The purpose has been to launch a model that straddles a television and a tablet. In fact, the Samsung Galaxy View 2 is used to watch TV, although it does so through its own applications such as the AT&T DirecTV Now service.
So that it is not difficult to transport, the company has incorporated a stand, which allows you to lean on any surface without using a cover. In addition, it includes a peculiar round handle so that it is easier to grip when we have to carry it from one place to another.
Inside the Galaxy View 2 there is room for an Exynos 7884 processor, an eight-core chip working at a speed of 1.6 GHz. This is accompanied by a 3GB RAM memory and a 64GB storage capacity (expandable by the use of microSD-type cards up to 400 GB). Regarding the photographic section, the tablet includes a single 5 megapixel front sensor . That is, it does not have a rear camera. This means that we can only make selfies or video calls.
Also, this new model includes four speakers with Dolby technology. The company has wanted to improve the sound with respect to its predecessor. In the absence of testing it, the Galaxy View 2 should not disappoint in this regard, offering a clean and good quality sound. For the rest, the View 2 also equips a battery of no more and no less than 12,000 mAh, another of its strengths. The tablet is governed by Android 8.1 Oreo under the Samsung Experience customization layer. We do not know if it will be able to update to Android 9 Pie shortly.
For now, the Samsung Galaxy View 2 will only see the light in the United States through the AT&T operator. Its price is 680 euros to change. We will be very aware to inform you if it will arrive in Europe and at what price.
