Here's what the LG K50's dual camera can do

There are two clear trends in the mobile world. On the one hand, high-end models are becoming more expensive and powerful. And on the other hand, mid-range and even low-range mobiles become more complete and beautiful, with designs that have little to envy those with higher prices without spending a lot of money. This is the case of the LG K50, a mobile with a very competitive price of 200 euros with good features and an attractive design.Among the most outstanding features of this model we find its double rear camera, which gives us a lot of versatility thanks to the use of a second sensor to get photos with bokeh or blur effect. In addition, it also includes several add-ons such as the LG Google Lens artificial intelligence system or the AI CAM function to automatically analyze the environment and take the best photo. We tell you all the options that the set of cameras of the LG K50 offer us .

Dual camera with secondary sensor for bokeh effects

The photographic set of the LG K50 includes two sensors on the rear. The main one with a resolution of 13 megapixels, aperture of f2.2 and size of 1.12μm . The secondary one has a resolution of 2 megapixels and is designed to capture the information of the depth of field, vital when creating blur effects between the foreground and the background. The selfie camera has a resolution of 13 megapixels and aperture of f2.0, with a pixel size of 1.12μm.

LG-K50 modes

QLens, Portrait Mode and AI Cam

Within the main screen of the LG K50 camera we have quick access to three different modes. The one on the left (with the mobile vertically) is the augmented reality mode with the use of artificial intelligence to carry out different functions. By default, we will use LG's own system, QLens, although we can also activate the Google Lens tool through the options. With QLens there are three different options. The first is to photograph a product to find similar offers on Amazon and buy it from this platform. Second, we have a mode that shows us images similar to the elements we take the photo of.. In this case, the technology behind it is that of the social network Pinterest. Lastly, we have a QR code reader.

In the case of activating Google Lens, we will have some extra option such as extracting text from an image or identifying plants or animals.

The second quick mode is Portrait . It is the one used to create blur or bokeh effects. Of course, for it to work correctly we have to have the person or object at a distance of approximately one meter. We have ten different blur levels and the great advantage is that it can also be changed afterwards, once we shoot the photo.

Finally, the AI CAM mode uses artificial intelligence to enhance photos (increasing the contrast and definition of photos). This is an interesting way to get more out of your photos without having to be a photography expert. Of course, I would recommend trying to shoot the same photos both with this mode activated and without activating since there are times when the shot is oversaturated.

Night mode

The night mode of this camera has a separate button at the top right, shaped like a moon. It reminds me of a simple pro mode, as you can also manage the focus manually . Its main function is to change the exposure of the camera to take images with more or less brightness. A simple way to improve the night photos that we take with the mobile.

Shooting modes

Although the modes that we are going to use the most are the ones I have mentioned, we also have three other modes that are accessed through the top menu (with the mobile vertically). Here I do not mention the automatic mode because it is the one used by default when opening the camera. These three modes are Food, designed to highlight food dishes. Instead of focusing on highlighting a part of the photo as in other brands, what this Food mode does is allow you to change the white balance towards a cooler or warmer aspect depending on the type of food plate. The second mode is Flash Jump-Cut . This (somewhat complex) name actually refers to the option to create a GIF image. This image is generated automatically through four photos taken every three seconds. The final results can be quite original to send to our friends or share through social networks. Finally, the third mode is YouTube Live, which takes you directly to a tool to upload streaming content to YouTube .

Filters

Nor could they miss the famous filters in the LG K50 camera, which are located in the third icon of the top menu. Specifically, when it comes to customizing our image we have 17 different filters of all kinds . The black and white filters or one of nostalgia could not be missing among them to create the effect of an old photo. If we click on the smiley face button we will access the masks. We have a good selection of layers to decorate our face or the frames of the screen: dog ears, cat ears, crowns, sunglasses ... A good addition to later share the creations through social networks.

Quick share

One of the aspects that I liked the most about the LG K50 camera is that you can quickly share photos or videos through different apps , without having to use intermediate steps. You simply have to click on the small arrow in the lower right and then choose the app to which we are going to launch the photo.

Front camera modes

The front camera repeats the main camera modes for the most part. Thus, we have Google Lens, Portrait and AI CAM, as well as Flash Jump-Cut and YouTube Live modes . And the filters and skins that we mentioned before. What is different is the ubiquitous beauty mode, which has up to eight levels to "fix" the skin and eliminate wrinkles and blemishes.
