After months of rumors and leaks, the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 is now official. The fifth generation of Samsung's most famous tablet phone has just been presented in New York and comes with a totally renewed design, in line with what they already did with the Samsung Galaxy S6 earlier this year. But not everything is appearance, there is also a lot of technology inside. We tell you all about the new Samsung Galaxy Note 5.

Display and layout

The  Samsung Galaxy Note 5 follows the tradition of size, but it does not increase the diagonal of the two previous models, but rather stands at a more than enough 5.7 inches. How could it be otherwise, the panel technology is Super AMOLED and has QHD resolution , achieving a density of 518 dots per inch.

The S Pen is the key to any device in the Note range and once again Samsung has improved this piece. The design has been made more ergonomic, but the real novelty is the click system that allows us to remove it from the chassis easily, a detail that will come in handy when starting to write quickly.

The S Pen is not the only element that has been redesigned, the entire phone has received a facelift that brings it closer to the Galaxy S6. The chassis is made of a more resistant aluminum alloy , which can be seen in the outer frame that surrounds the entire terminal, while its faces are covered by a sheet of resistant glass Corning Gorilla Glass 4. The shape of the device has also changed slightly and now the side edges are rounded at the rear, making the grip more comfortable with one hand. The thickness has been reduced to 7.6 millimeters and the weight remains at 171 grams.

Camera and multimedia

Samsung has maintained the same camera configuration that they showed us last March with the Galaxy S6 and S6 edge, but it does not hurt to do a review of their specifications and main functions. The rear camera has a 16 megapixel BSI sensor, accompanied by a double LED flash, 4K resolution video recording and a lens with f / 1.9 aperture. The combination of these elements in the S6 results in a very fast camera that offers excellent results in low light conditions, which is why the Note 5it should keep that quality. But Samsung has wanted to introduce one more improvement in the camera, so that it is not so equal, we suppose. The optical stabilizer has a new processing software called VDIS that improves the results when recording videos in motion, minimizing shaking much more precisely. If we move to the front there is the camera for selfies, with a 5 megapixel sensor and f / 1.9 lens.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 5 does not disappoint on the multimedia level , offering support for the most common formats . It also includes basic functions such as dictation and voice recording and access to Podcast and radio stations - but only through the Internet, of course .

Power and memory

We continue with the similarities with the S6, in this case with the processor. It is an Exynos 7420, an eight-core with 64-bit support that in this case is accompanied by no less than 4 Gb of RAM. This increase will translate into greater fluidity when working with several applications at the same time.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 5 does not have a MicroSD memory card, it is already official. In addition, there will be no 128 Gb version according to official data, so we will have to settle for the 32 and 64 Gb editions . These figures are more than enough to store a good amount of data for an average user, but for many it much more comfortable to have an external memory than to be able to insert in other readers.

Operating system and applications

Functions are the soul of the stylus and in this case Samsung has added less than usual, but more interesting and practical than what we were used to in the first versions. Now the S Pen allows us to write directly on the off screen , we just have to remove it and touch the panel so that our writing is registered in white on the black background, in this way we can quickly write down a phone number or address. The well-known Air Command tool , which is activated by pressing on the S Pen button while keeping it above the screen, can now be used from any screen. There is also a system ofscreenshots that allow scrolling at the same time , so we get everything in the same image.

The  Samsung Galaxy Note 5 ships with Android 5.1 Lollipop and the Samsung TouchWiz interface , which includes features such as custom themes that allow you to change the appearance of the system quickly. In addition, it has the entire suite of Google applications as standard.

Connectivity and autonomy

The  Samsung Galaxy Note 5 could not lack a profile of high connections to complete its features. It now supports LTE Cat 9 networks , achieving download peaks of up to 450 Mbps . It also has a dual band WiFi port , GPS antenna compatible with aGPS, Glonass and Beidou, Bluetooth 4.1, DLNA, NFC, ANT +, WiFi Direct and infrared port . Physical connections include a MicroUSB , a mini headphone jack, and the fingerprint sensor on the home button.

The battery has 3,000 milliamps of capacity and, although the autonomy times have not been revealed at the moment, Samsung has confirmed that it offers support for fast charging 2.0 and wireless charging. Precisely the wireless charging system has been improved so that you can complete the charge in just 2 hours.

Availability and opinions

Although the  Samsung Galaxy Note 5 takes a design twist, the truth is that Samsung has not surprised us too much with the benefits. On the one hand there are the insistent rumors of the past weeks, which had been responsible for reeling off almost all of its technical sheet. But it is also that this model repeats many of the characteristics that we already saw with the S6 in March. The most striking novelties focus on the RAM memory , the VDIS system of the optical stabilizer, the support for LTE Cat 9 and of course the functions of the S Pen , which is also now removable by clicking.

The device will go on sale on August 21, but be careful, because the initial launch is only for the United States and some Asian countries. At the moment there are no details about its arrival in more countries, but we will be attentive to complete this information.
