If you want to invest in a TV that will last you many years, surely you have taken a look at the new models with 8K resolution . At the end of the day, everything seems to indicate that we are facing the new revolution in terms of image quality. Hence, manufacturers as important as Samsung and LG have decided to launch their models with 8K resolution to the market. The last to arrive have been those of LG, which will arrive in Spain in the next few days . In fact, the NanoCell model is already available in some stores.
And is that the Korean manufacturer has decided to launch two models with 8K resolution. On the one hand we have the LG OLED 88Z9, the largest OLED TV that has been launched on the market . On the other hand is the LG NanoCell 8K 75SM9900, a 75-inch TV with NanoCell technology . We are going to know its availability, its price and the reason why LG ensures that its 8K models are "Real 8K".
Why real 8K?
For a TV to be considered real 8K it requires that the minimum value of Contrast Modulation (CM) exceeds a threshold of 50%. An 8K TV with a CM value lower than these required thresholds does not offer true 8K , even though the TV may have enough (7,680 x 4,320) pixels. The LG SIGNATURE OLED 8K and LG NanoCell 8K TVs manage to exceed those values by far, so they guarantee that we are looking at real 8K TVs.
The LG Signature OLED 8K boasts a CM of 91.8% according to the ICDM. As for the model with LED technology, the LG 75SM9900, offers a CM of 88%. That is, both far exceed what the international standard sets.
Both models can convert 4K (3,840 x 2,160) or Full HD (1,920 x 1,080) content into a high quality image with 8K resolution. This is made possible by the Alpha 9 Gen 2 8K intelligent processor . In addition, both have Dolby Atmos audio, which completes the audiovisual experience with much more immersive sound.
On the other hand, LG 8K TVs, like 4K models, offer support for Dolby Vision and Advanced HDR from Technicolor up to 4K and HLG and HDR 10 up to 8K .
Price and availability
As we mentioned, the new LG 8K televisions are about to arrive in Spain. In fact, the LG NanoCell 8K 75SM9900 can already be purchased with an official price of 5,000 euros .
It will be more difficult to find the LG OLED88Z9 8K. The exact price of this impressive OLED TV has not been revealed, but during the IFA we learned that it will be between 20,000 and 30,000 euros .
