Huawei P8 Lite 2017, analysis, price and opinions

A few weeks ago we could see that it was making its appearance by some German media, and today the official launch of the Huawei P8 Lite 2017 in Spain is confirmed . The company has wanted to renew one of its best-selling terminals in our country, the Huawei P8 Lite , giving it a facelift and updating its hardware. A somewhat strange move, if we consider that the Huawei P9 Lite has been on the market for some time. The new model stands out for a glass-finished design, a more powerful processor, an improved camera, more RAM, and an increase in screen size and resolution. Let's check what the new Huawei P8 Lite 2017 offers us .

Improved layout

The new Huawei P8 Lite 2017 has been designed with a glass finish on its back, thus adapting to the current trend of the mid-range. The new model is more rounded than the previous P8 Lite , with narrower top and bottom frames. In general, it looks more current, more modern. As is usual in Huawei terminals , on the front we only have the screen, which curves to the sides, the front camera and the name of the company. In the back we have the main camera, located on the upper left side, the fingerprint reader in the center and the Huawei logo. Both the camera lens and the fingerprint reader are perfectly integrated into the back cover, without protruding a millimeter.

The full dimensions of the terminal have not yet been revealed, as well as the weight. If we are based on the size of the screen, the dimensions should be similar to the Huawei P9 Lite . We will update the information as soon as it is official. What we do know is that the terminal will arrive in at least three colors: black , gold and white .

The screen grows

As we mentioned at the beginning, the screen of the new Huawei P8 Lite 2017 grows. And it grows in both size and resolution. The previous model offers a 5-inch screen with HD resolution of 1,280 x 720 pixels, which translates into a density of 294 dpi.

The new model increases its screen to 5.2 inches . But also it increases its definition, passing a resolution Full HD 1,920 x 1,080 pixels . With this data, the density increases up to 424 dpi . A great move from Huawei , since Full HD resolution is becoming a kind of standard in mid-range terminals.

Improved camera

The Huawei P8 Lite Original features a rear camera 13 megapixel with autofocus and LED flash . In the new model, however, the company has decided to lower the resolution and apply other measures to improve the system. Thus, the Huawei P8 Lite 2017 has a primary camera of 12 megapixels with a size greater pixel (1.25 microns) to capture more light, thus improving the final result. The camera is accompanied by an LED Flash . No information has been provided on the aperture and neither on whether optical image stabilization has been incorporated. We assume that it will have an autofocus system.

In the front we have a camera sensor with 8 megapixels and autofocus system , which is unusual in this type of cameras. The previous model offers a 5 megapixel camera on the front, so the change is considerable. Companies are beginning to give a lot of importance to selfie cameras .

Improving performance

Obviously, updating a very successful terminal should bring about a substantial improvement in the device's hardware. The Huawei P8 Lite 2017 offers inside a Kirin 655 processor manufactured by Huawei . It is a SoC with eight cores, four cores at 2.1 GHz and four cores at 1.7 GHz . Accompanying this processor we have 3 GB of RAM and 16 GB of internal storage. This capacity can be expanded using a microSD card of up to 128 GB .

Taking into account that the original Huawei P8 Lite had an eight-core HiSilicon Kirin 620 processor with a power of 1.2 GHz per core and 2 GB of RAM . As can be seen, the performance change should be significant on the new model. The storage capacity, however, remains at 16GB. It would not have been bad for the company to take the opportunity to increase the basic storage to 32 GB.

As for the software that will equip the new model, it has not yet been confirmed whether it will be Android 6.0 Marshmallow or Android 7.0 Nougat . However, we do know that the user interface will be EMUI 5.0 , the latest version of Huawei's customization layer .

Increase battery

Another significant change that we will find in the new Huawei P8 Lite 2017 compared to the previous model will be in the battery. The new terminal of the Chinese company increases the battery to 3,000 milliamps , compared to 2,200 milliamps of the original Huawei P8 Lite . This important change has a lot to do with increasing the size and resolution of the screen, but it should give us a much greater autonomy than that achieved by the current model.

Price and availability

Huawei has wanted to update one of its best sellers to retain customers who already trusted the previous model and attract new ones. And the strategy could work for you, because the company has focused on improving the weaker aspects of the previous model. We have a new updated design, a bigger and better screen, more powerful hardware, and a much bigger battery. We are sure that the new Huawei terminal will do very well in the market .

The Huawei P8 Lite 2017 will be available in Spain from next February 1 , with a price of 240 euros .
