Ten Useful Keyboard Shortcuts for Windows 8

Windows 8

Much has been criticized of Windows 8 that it is an unintuitive platform and that it requires time to get control of this system. The truth is that it represents an important change compared to Windows 7 (once we abandon the classic desktop interface). However, if we get used to a series of keyboard shortcuts, we can quickly control interesting options such as taking a screenshot, accessing the quick search menu to find an application or a system feature or reaching the list of Windows 8 tools . We bring you a list with ten of the main keyboard shortcuts on this platform.

Screenshot. To take a screenshot in Windows 8 , just use the Windows key + print screen key combination . The great advance of this system is that the capture is automatically saved in its own folder and in the PNG format. In previous versions of Windows, you had to paste the capture into a photo retouching application.

Open alternative start menu . Desktop Windows 8 and sconde a menu simpler than other Windows startup, but it can be very useful to get used to using this system. To open, simply use the shortcut Windows key + X .

Open Windows 8 Quick Search. One of the most interesting and least exploited features of the new Windows in my opinion is its search tool. The system is capable of performing an instant search through the applications, files and settings of this system just by starting to type a term. A really agile way to access a system configuration that escapes us at a first glance or to find that song that we had downloaded. To open this panel, just press the combination of the Windows key + S. One way of not forgetting this combination is to relate it to the word "Search"of English. Specific searches can also be performed in applications ( Windows key + Q ), files ( Windows key + F ), and system configuration tools ( Windows key + W ).

Run menu in Windows 8

Open the browser . If you want quick access to the Windows Explorer from any window, you only have to press the combination of the Windows key + E .

Run . One of the options that used to be very useful in previous versions of Windows was the run command. Although in Windows 8 we can access the same function from the search tool, if you want to open the small window to run files and applications you must use the combination of the Windows key + R.

Move between apps. To move quickly between the different Windows 8 windows that we have open, we must make the keyboard shortcut of the Windows key + Tab. This way of switching between apps has the advantage that we can see the open applications in the left bar before choosing which of them to move to (to switch between apps, you have to press the Tab key repeatedly while holding the Windows key ).

Control + Alt + Delete . Something that does not change despite time. If we want to quickly access the task manager or shutdown and restart the system we will have to use this mythical combination of keys.

Task manager in Windows 8

Open the task manager . But if you don't want to have to go through the intermediate step of opening that window, you can open the task manager directly through the Control + Shift + Esc shortcut .

Zoom in. Both on the desktop and in the main Windows interface , if you want to zoom, just make a combination between the Control key + the mouse wheel.

Access the options of an application . Finally, each application (including the desktop) has different options that appear when we open the options bar on the right side of the screen. If we want to access directly, we can use the combination of the Windows key + I.
