Movistar + is a video on demand service, widely used in Spain to reproduce all kinds of content. A small drawback of this platform is that it does not have native integration with Google's Chromecast device, although it is something that we can solve with some fairly simple tricks.
Play Movistar + content on Chromecast using a PC
Unlike other content streaming platforms such as Netflix or Amazon Prime video, Movistar + has decided for the moment not to bet on Google's Chromecast technology.
However, this does not mean that we cannot reproduce the contents found within Movistar + on our television with Chromecast. To solve this small inconvenience of this great content platform, we will use the Google Chrome browser on our PC. For now, the version of Chrome for smartphones does not include the function we need to use.
The first thing we need to do is install a free extension that will allow us to play the Movistar + videos within Chrome.
Once the extension has been installed, we have to access the official Movistar + website using the Google Chrome browser on our PC.
The next step is to click on the menu in the form of three dots, which you will find in the upper right corner of the Google Chrome interface. When the menu opens, click on the "Transmit" option.
A small window will open, showing a list of all the devices that we have connected to our Wi-Fi network, and to which we can send content. You have to select the Chromecast with which we want to play the Movistar + content.
Now you just have to find the content you want to play, and click on the green button that you will find inside to start playing.
If all is well, you should see how the content begins to play immediately, on your TV with the Chromecast device selected above.
Play Movistar + content on Chromecast using an Android mobile
If what you want is to send Movistar plus content to your Chromecast from an Android phone, you can also use a fairly simple trick. This method has the drawback that the smartphone screen must remain on all the time , so the battery drain will be quite large.
This method also has the drawback, that the information must be sent from your smartphone to the router, and from there again to the Chromecast device that you are using to play the content.
This higher latency can cause a slight delay in the TV image , compared to what is being played on the mobile. Beyond that there should be no problem.
To do this we will use the Google Home application that you can download for free from Google Play.
When it has been installed, open the Google Home application and it will show you a list of all the Chromecast devices that you have connected to your Wi-Fi. Simply select the one you want to use, and then click the "Submit My Screen" button that will appear in the lower left corner.
Now you just have to open the Movistar + application from your smartphone, and start playing the content you want to see. Remember that you must keep the screen of your mobile on, if you turn it off the playback will pause immediately.
