10 things you want to know about EMUI 10

The arrival of EMUI 10 was announced with great fanfare last August in the context of the HCD 2019. Since then, we have been assured that this layer of customization in Huawei Android would be one of its updates with the greatest number of new features. And the truth is that they were right.

What Huawei has raised with the tenth EMUI update has been to improve the user experience to levels not previously reached. Not only that, they have also proposed to include a whole battery of improvements to increase performance and efficiency  compared to previous versions of Huawei. Come on, we are not facing a simple update.

That is why we want to show you all the news that this EMUI 10 brings us in a special where we will review point by point some of the most interesting improvements.

Minimalism and pastel colors

If you want to set a precedent, sometimes it is better to start from scratch. Perhaps that is why EMUI 10 debuts with a completely renewed interface , which is inspired by the design of magazines. With a marked minimalist line, it presents larger fonts, new animations, and a Morandi color palette, made up of gradient pastel tones that give the interface a really elegant touch.

Multi-screen communication

But not everything was going to stay on the aesthetic plane. Interconnectivity has also been strengthened with the multi-screen collaboration function , which facilitates the interaction between our PC equipment and Huawei phones. The idea is that, through a simple pairing process between devices, our smartphone can be controlled directly from the laptop screen.

Enhanced dark mode

How could it be otherwise, EMUI 10 has its own dark mode integrated as a prominent feature of its new update. Not for nothing, from Huawei itself ensures that it has paid special attention to ensuring the best readability rates, by improving contrasts and selecting color tones that stand out in open windows.

This was something the company was concerned about in past applications, where 'forcing' the mode caused the reading to blur a bit. Accent colors are relegated this time to some background icons, as well as text.

New "Always On Display" mode

The Always On Display function ,  also known as always on display, allows you to show essential data on the screen even when it is turned off, such as the time, date or battery status. With EMUI 10, Huawei brings to the table an interesting repertoire of changes and novelties, such as new  colorful images to choose from  and adorn the mobile when we are not using it, with various designs of watches and decorations.

Greater fluidity

Huawei's new ARK compiler is capable of dramatically increasing the fluidity of the system interface  and significantly improves the overall performance of the Android system. The company has also decided to go back to open source with this compiler in order to nurture the development ecosystem.

Car mode

If Apple has CarPlay, and Google Android Auto, Huawei was not going to be less and brings us HiCar, another of the functions that could be defined as a great novelty. This car mode allows you to connect the phone with the vehicle at all times to control music or  configure other functions in real time while driving.   Of course, all in complete safety.

Flag connectivity

Thanks to the Dial-Up application, EMUI 10 takes a giant step forward when it comes to connectivity between Huawei devices . With this integrated tool, we can make free video calls to other Huawei users in Full HD quality, connect with smart speakers in the same house or even establish video calls with smart screens.

Revamped camera interface

The camera app with EMUI 10 is presented with a cleaner look eliminating various frills. To begin with, the controls have undergone a redesign that make the handling of the different functions of the application much more intuitive, such as the use of zoom, filters or shooting modes. A revision that really suits you and that gains in clarity and usability compared to its previous version.

Retouched Icon Design

If before we mentioned the minimalist aesthetics that EMUI 10 sports, it is not surprising that the design has also changed in its own applications , continuing that minimalist and simple trend that the Huawei interface boasts.

The menu has undergone quite significant changes, as well as the design of the various icons on the desktop, which incorporate the golden ratio in all its magnitudes . This aesthetic decision, although it may seem an extravagance, makes the icons more comfortable to look at and easier to read, in the words of their manufacturer.
