The upgrade to Windows 10 has been around for several months now and many users have already installed it on their compatible computers. That Windows 10 is the most important update of the Redmond system we have no doubt. The platform is more intuitive and combines the interfaces for computer or tablet much better, offers a more fluid performance and launches such interesting functions as the Cortana assistant or the Microsoft Edge browser . However, there is still a detail that most users do not like , and that is that the search engine configured by default is Bing. Every time we do a search in the Cortana box, it directs us to this search engine instead of Google , which is the preferred one for users - and their reasons have. In this article we will tell you how to make both the start menu and Cortana search for content on Google instead of Bing, but for this the first thing you need is to have  Google Chrome installed.

1) Before starting, you must configure  Google Chrome as the system's default browser , since by default this role is reserved for Microsoft Edge. To begin, go to the Start menu and click on Settings .

2) A window with several icons will open, it is the new face that Microsoft has given to the classic Control Panel menu. In this case, the section that interests us is System .

5) The next step is to install a Chrome extension so that you can redirect searches from Bing to Google. Its name is Bing2Google and you can download it for free from this link .

6) Now we can test Google searches from the box that appears next to the Windows 10 Start menu. You just have to type any word and click on Web . If Chrome was already open, a new tab will appear with the results, but if the browser was closed it should open, although this may cause some other problem, but we will tell you how to solve it in the next step.

7) So that there are no problems when Google Chrome is closed , you simply have to activate an option in the Settings menu , but to find it you have to scroll all the way to the bottom and click on Show advanced settings.

8) At the bottom of this menu we will see the System section . All you have to do is check the "Keep running apps in the background when closing Google Chrome" box . In this way we will not have any problem when we do a search and Chrome is closed, since it continues to work even if we do not see it.

9) Finally, we can redirect the searches from Cortana , Microsoft's voice assistant, to Google. It is done with another extension, also free, which in this case is called Chrometana and is available at this link .

10) After adding the extension, Chrometana will ask us which search engine we want to use, just click on Google and you can forget about the happy Bing.
