HANNSpree HANN Spad 10.1, we tested it

The mid-range is not only present in the world of mobile telephony, and in the tablet market it is possible to find a wide variety of devices at affordable prices. This is the case of the HANNSpree HANNSpad 10.1 (model SN1AT74 ), a tablet from the European company HANNSPree that can be purchased in stores for an approximate price of 150 euros . We have had the opportunity to test the HANNSPree HANNSpad 10.1 , and this time we are going to analyze each and every one of its characteristics point by point.

Design

Tablet HANNSpad 10.1 is presented with dimensions of  179.9 x 263.2 x 9.8 mm and a weight of 620 grams . These are standard measures within the tablet market, and the fact that the weight is set at 620 grams does not cause major discomfort when we handle the tablet with both hands. Of course, when using the HANNSpad 10.1 to view text documents vertically holding the tablet with one hand for several hours, it is likely that we will begin to suffer the first symptoms of fatigue on the wrist.

In terms of design, the HANNSpad 10.1 is presented with a neat and elegant appearance . On the front of the tablet we find the front camera located on quite large frames (just over two centimeters thick), something that is inevitable considering the price range in which we find ourselves. The buttons of the Android operating system ( Back , Home and Menu ) are virtual and are directly integrated into the screen , in addition to the fact that a fourth button is also included in this tabletthat allows you to take screenshots .

On the left side of the HANNSpad 10.1 we have all the buttons and physical connectivity of this tablet. Starting at the top of the left side, the distribution of connectivities is: lock button of the screen , volume button , microSD card slot , output mini-HDMI a microphone , output minijack 3.5 mm , output microUSB 2.0 and power input . On the back of the tablet we find a polished metal casing on which the two speakers are integrated, while a little higher we have the main camera .

screen

Screen HANNSpad 10.1 is of type IPS , has a size of 10.1 inches , achieves a resolution of 1,280 x 800 pixels and has a pixel density in the set screen 160 ppi . The screen size is large enough so that we can use the tablet both for office use (viewing documents and graphics, reading and writing emails, surfing the Internet , etc.) and for leisure use (reading books, watch videos, play games, etc.). The resolution is correct, and the maximum brightness level can be set high enough to use the tablet outdoors without the reflection of sunlight preventing us from seeing the screen.

At the bottom of the HANNSpad 10.1 screen are the four virtual buttons . The first of these buttons allows us to go backwards in the navigation, while the second button allows us to automatically go to the main screen of the tablet. The third button serves to open the menu of the applications that are currently running in the background, while the fourth and last button serves to make a screenshot that is stored in the folder " Gallery ". These buttons are automatically hidden at the moment in which we view applications, photos or videos in full screen, so they do not turn out to be a hassle when navigating the interface.

Camera and audio

The HANNSpree HANNSpad 10.1 incorporates two cameras . The main camera located on the back of the tablet comes with a sensor two megapixels that can take pictures with a maximum resolution of 1,600 x 1,200 pixels (although lower resolutions can also choose to type SVGA or VGA ). The quality of this camera is practically anecdotal, something that we can not highlight as a negative aspect considering that we are not dealing with a product intended for the photographic section. Even so, this camera is enough to take pictures of text documents that we may need to share at a certain moment. The front camera, meanwhile, incorporates a simpler sensor still 0.3 megapixels which offers photos with a maximum resolution of 640 x 480 pixels .

The Camera application of this tablet incorporates a configuration section in which it is possible to customize the settings of the photograph that is going to be taken at that moment. The available settings are: geotagging , timer , image size , white balance, and scene mode .

When it comes to audio , the HANNSpad 10.1 incorporates two speakers that, according to our tests, are capable of reproducing sound with an intensity of about 80 decibels .

Power and memory

The processor incorporated in the HANNSpad 10.1 responds to the name of ARMv7 (model VFPv4 NEON ) and is made up of four ARM Cortex-A9- type cores that operate at a clock speed of 1.2 GHz . RAM memory capacity is set to 1 GigaByte . The fluency of the tablet when navigating the interface is correct , so we can navigate through the menus without fear of suffering any performance problems.

The performance in the execution of applications depends entirely on the use that we are going to give the tablet: simple and universal applications such as the web browser , Gmail , YouTube and even some simple games work correctly on the HANNSpad 10.1 . Of course, we can almost completely rule out running applications that require much higher performance (see games with very advanced graphics), since the processor is not designed to be able to move this type of process fluently.

The internal storage capacity is set at 16 GigaBytes , of which, due to the files installed as standard, slightly more than 12 GigaBytes remain at our disposal . This capacity is more than enough for daily use of the tablet , and it is even an internal memory space that allows you to store a good number of images and videos. Still, the HANNSpad 10.1 incorporates a slot for external microSD memory cards up to a maximum of 32 GigaBytes .

Operating system and applications

The operating system installed as standard in the HANNSpree HANNSpad 10.1 corresponds to Android in one of its most recent versions, Android 4.4.2 KitKat . The fact that this tablet incorporates one of the most recent versions of this operating system is very noteworthy, since in this way we have guaranteed compatibility with all the applications that will appear in the Google Play store in the coming months. In short, the HANNSpad 10.1 interface is simple , fluid and practical .

The applications installed standard on this tablet are: Browser , Calendar , Camera , Gallery , Mail , Settings , Google Settings , Voice Search , Calculator , Downloads , ES File Explorer , Extra Apps , Gmail , Google , Voice Recorder , Music , Play Store and Clock. Furthermore, in addition to these applications, we also have at our disposal some widgets with which we can customize the main screen of the tablet. Among all widgets of HANNSpad 10.1 worth highlighting these add- ons: Mailbag , Power Control , label Gmail , Gallery , Google Now , Playlist music and Bookmarks .

Autonomy

The HANNSpad 10.1's battery has a capacity of 6,000 mAh . According to official figures provided by HANNSpree , this battery provides autonomy that is around six hours of use . In our tests we have been able to verify that, having WiFi connectivity activated and using the automatic screen brightness, the real autonomy is around a figure close to those six hours , although an average user should not have major problems reaching even eight o'clock. nine hours of tablet startup.

It should be noted that the HANNSpad 10.1 can be charged in two ways: through the microUSB cable , connecting it to another device (a computer, for example) or through the power cable -with its respective adapter- that is included among the accessories of the Tablet. A very positive aspect of this charging adapter is that it includes two interchangeable parts that allow the charger to be used in both a European socket and an American socket . Without a doubt, this is a feature that people who plan to use this tablet on business trips will appreciate.

Availability and conclusions

The HANNSpree HANNSpad 10.1 tablet can now be purchased in Spain for a price of around 150 euros . Making a summary of our test and our analysis, we can say that the HANNSpad 10.1 is a tablet that meets what one might expect from a product in this price range . For easy and undemanding use , the HANNSpad 10.1It is a good companion to complement our smartphone with a larger device that allows us to carry out tasks that are difficult to carry out on a mobile due to the size of the screen. Also, although during our first test we experienced an incident where the screen lock button did not seem to respond to our keystrokes, HANNSpree has resolved the problem by providing us with a new test unit within a reasonable amount of time.
