VLC Media Player is a multi-tool player whose functions are not limited only to playing content, but also to converting different media into digital formats. Once we have downloaded the program, we will open it and click on the option Convert / Save… (Convert / Save or Control + R) that we can find in the top menu of VLC. Next, a window like the one we can see below will open:
With the DVD inserted in one of the computer's trays, we will go to the Disc section (Disc in Spanish) in the top menu of the interface. Then we will click on the DVD option. Now we just have to select the disk drive corresponding to the tray where the DVD is located (E :, F :, G: etc.), but not before making sure that the No disc menu option is checked .
The latter prevents the menus included on the DVD from appearing as part of the final video file. If we want the DVD subtitles to be exported together with the final video file, we will have to set the figure 'o' in the Audio tracks field , although we can include the subtitles later through the same program.

If we want to convert the DVD into MP4 at the highest quality, it is recommended to select the H.264 + MP3 (MP4) format or the H.265 + MP3 (MP4) format if we want the final file to be more optimized.
The last step before proceeding with the export is based on selecting the destination route in the Destination field (Destination in Spanish). Finally we will click on Start or Start to begin converting the DVD to MP4 or the format that we have previously selected. Depending on the length of the video and the graphic power of the computer, the export time can range from a few minutes to several hours .
