How to fill in the 2019 income disability increase box 1

The interface to make the Income Declaration has improved a lot in recent years, it is undeniable. The options to enter are more flexible and comfortable and the environment in which you enter the data and fill in the boxes is more attractive and intuitive (within the labyrinth that Income has always been). Although many still suffer from cold sweats when facing the Declaration, more and more of us are encouraged to do it without the help of a manager. But despite these improvements, there are aspects that can still be greatly improved, such as the box for the increase due to disability. If you are an employed person and have a recognized degree of disability, you probably already know what I am talking about. Today I am going to guide you step by step to fill in this concept that can cause so many headaches.

Do not forget to check that you have the correct degree of disability marked at the beginning of the Declaration

Of course, before you start making the Income Declaration there is a previous window in which basic data is shown. You have to be careful here, because a dropdown also appears with your disability situation in four different degrees:

income disability degree

  1. Active worker with a degree equal to or greater than 33% and less than 65%, without being in the following case
  2. Active worker with a degree equal to or greater than 33% and less than 65%, if it is proven that they need help from third parties or reduced mobility
  3. Disability to a degree equal to or greater than 65% (other than that indicated in point 4)
  4. Judicial incapacitation by sentence of the civil jurisdiction

At least in my case, when making the Declaration the incorrect box was marked by default, no matter how much my personal data had and in other Treasury procedures it appeared without problem. Once you get into it there is no way to change it unless you start all over again from the beginning (or else I couldn't find a way after digging for a long time).

Now comes the other part that can have you a desperate good time. If you have obtained money for income from work, that is, you were working for someone else, these amounts will be reflected on the Income from work page (in principle, page 4 of the Declaration). However, what you will not see reflected is the box by increase for active workers who are people with disabilities . In fact, you will see that it appears in yellow and blocked, even though you already indicated that you had a degree of disability at the beginning.

It is not intuitive at all, but what you have to do is press on the pen to modify the box of “Cash benefits (including compensatory pensions and annuities for non-exempt food). Full amount¨. This box is at the top of this page. In the new window that opens, you do have a section to indicate that you are a worker with a disability . It's under the Additional Data heading in the lower left corner.

If you give either of the two pens again, another window opens in which you can finally mark your degree of disability so that the increase is reflected. In this case there are only two options:

  1. Active worker with a degree equal to or greater than 33% and less than 65%, without being in the following case
  2. Active worker with a degree equal to or greater than 65% or that proves the need for help from a third person or reduced mobility

Important. If your ability was recognized throughout the year, you must check the following box that says ¨Check the box if all your work income has been obtained as an active worker and disabled ¨ . In case that is not the case, you will have to pull the calculator and you will have to indicate only the amount of net money that you have earned in the time in which you had recognized the disability. To give a simple example to understand it better, although the calculation may be more complex, if in this period you have had a net income of 12,000 euros and you have only been recognized as disabled as of November, the amount you put should be 2,000 euros.

Once you have finished with these steps you can proceed with the 2018 Income Statement . What goes out to return!
