The Galaxy A family continues to grow. The latest member to join it has been the Samsung Galaxy A90 5G, a device that is quite different from the most prominent model to date, the Samsung Galaxy A80. Not only in design or connectivity, but also in performance (different processor, battery and photographic section). In any case, both computers share screen size, operating system and fingerprint reader under the panel, an element that leaves the back cleaner and more orderly.
If you are interested in these two models, do not stop reading. Here we reveal their five main differences.

1. Design
Although the Samsung Galaxy A90 5G and Galaxy A80 have the same screen size: 6.7-inch Super AMOLED and a resolution of 1,080 x 2,400 pixels, their design is very different. The Galaxy A80 takes the prize in originality thanks to a main panel, without frames, notch or perforation. You will then wonder how the sensor for selfies has been included. This terminal has an automatic rotation system that reverses the three main cameras to make use of them in the front part.
Its rear part, made of glass, only leaves space for the company logo in the central part and for the triple camera module in the upper part. Its design is elegant and very minimalist as well as futuristic. For its part, the Galaxy A90 5G follows the line of other sister phones, with an Infinity-U panel and a rear part in which there is space for a triple sensor arranged vertically and the company logo presiding over the central part. This model is somewhat slimmer and more stylized: 164.8 x 76.4 x 8.4 mm and 206 grams of weight compared to the 165.2 x 76.5 x 9.3 mm and 220 grams of weight of the Galaxy A80.
2. Processor
While the Samsung Galaxy A90 5G comes with a Snapdragon 855 processor with its 5G modem, the Galaxy A80 includes a Snapdragon 730. Both offer versions with 8 GB of RAM. However, we expect a greater fluidity in the Galaxy A90 5G, which will be noticed a bit when opening several processes at the same time or making use of heavier applications.
3. Camera
Both the Samsung Galaxy A90 5G and the Galaxy A80 include a triple sensor. However, this one is slightly different. We say lightly because both have a 48-megapixel primary sensor with f / 2.0 aperture, accompanied by a second 8-megapixel sensor for a 123-degree wide angle. The difference is in the third. The one in the Galaxy A90 5G is 5 megapixels with f / 2.2 aperture for depth measurements. For its part, the A80 is an assistance ToF sensor for photos in portrait mode, as well as to measure the volume of objects, thus improving the results of captures.
There are also differences in the front camera. As we explained a bit above, the Galaxy A80 has a rotating system that automatically protrudes when taking a selfie, therefore using the same main camera system. This makes you have a triple secondary camera with very good possibilities for selfies or group photos. The secondary sensor of the Galaxy A90 5G has a resolution of 32 megapixels and aperture f / 2.0. In addition, it has a Live Focus mode to improve group captures.
4. Battery and connections
Samsung has wanted to provide the Samsung Galaxy A90 5G with a larger battery than other models in the series, such as the A80. It equips a 4,500 mAh with 25W fast charge, so it is crowned as one of the company's phones with the best capacity. For its part, the A80 includes a 3,700 mAh, also with 25W fast charge , which is always a relief. In our tests we found that doing average use (browsing, capturing some photos, consulting social networks, using apps ...) gave us for a day and a half two days. This means that the A90 5G should perform similarly or a little better.
Likewise, another of the characteristics that differentiate them is the 5G connection. The A80 can only connect to 3G or 4G networks, while the A90 5G can enjoy this standard as long as it is contracted through an operator that offers it.
5. Support for Samsung Dex
The last difference is in the support for Samsung Dex, only available on the Galaxy A90 5G. In fact, it is the first device in the Galaxy A family to have this functionality. This will allow you to use the phone as a computer by connecting it to an external display. In this way, you can use its functions comfortably on a large screen.
At the moment, the only model sold in Spain is the Samsung Galaxy A80. It can be found at a price of 515 euros in stores like Amazon. To enjoy the Samsung Galaxy A90 5G you will have to be patient. For now, the terminal will only go on sale in South Korea starting tomorrow, September 4. It will reach the global market at a price of 750 euros.
