If you have bought the latest Huawei flagship, you are already taking incredible photos. But, do you want to make the most of the possibilities offered by the terminal? If the answer is yes, don't miss these 5 tricks to get the most out of the Huawei P20 Pro camera .

Up to 40 megapixels

Surely before purchasing the terminal you were struck by the 40 megapixels of the main camera. However, then you may have received the terminal and seen that it takes the photos at 10 megapixels . What happens? They have cheated me?

No, but the P2o Pro arrives with the camera set by default at 10 megapixels . However, we can change it from the camera settings. We just have to go into the gear at the top and choose the highest resolution.

But beware! Shooting at 40 megapixels will make us lose the wonderful 5x zoom present in the P20 Pro . So we only recommend changing it if you are going to shoot a photo with which you will later make a large mural or something similar. For almost any other use the 10 megapixels are more than enough.

Video up to 4K

Something similar happens with video. The P20 Pro allows you to record video with resolution up to 4K . Specifically, we have 5 resolutions available in the terminal settings menu.

But we must bear in mind that not all resolutions offer the same thing. On the one hand, if we configure the terminal to record with 4K resolution, we can only do it at 30 fps . We can also record video in FHD + resolution (not highly recommended if we want to see it on a television) and in two FHD modes.

The first is FHD at 60fps. The second is FHD at 30fps. Only in the latter we will have available the magnificent stabilized EIS that the P20 Pro includes .

In addition, we can also choose whether to record in H264 format (more compatible) or do it in H265 (more efficient but that can cause problems in a later playback on another device).

Install new modes

The main modes such as “Night Shot” mode or “Monochrome” mode are installed by default. However, we have the option of getting new modes .

To do this we have to go to the modes carousel and click on More. Again we move the modes until we reach the option " Downloads ". Here we will have three new modes that we can download, such as the "Enhance food" mode.

Watermarks

A watermark is a message (a logo, a stamp, a signature) superimposed on the image. It is usually used to sign photos or post information that seems relevant to us.

The Huawei P20 Pro allows you to place various types of watermarks automatically . The first is available in the Settings section. Under the GPS location you will see an option that says “Automatically add watermarks”. The result will be a photo with a watermark in one corner showing the model of the terminal and the Leica signature.

Huawei and Leica watermark

If we want to put a somewhat more fun watermark, we can use the "Watermark" mode . Actually, it would be more something similar to stickers, but with some pre-configured options.

In the mode roulette, click on More and look for the "Watermark" mode. At the bottom (top horizontally) you will see three vertical points. By clicking on them you will access all the types of brand that the terminal can place.

We have several types available , from Sports to Time and Location, through Food . In each type we have several options available.

Quick shot

Do you know that the Huawei camera application allows you to take a quick shot with your mobile locked? To do this we will have to press the volume down button twice quickly . Although it can save us from a very specific situation, we must bear in mind that we will not see anything on the screen until the photo is taken, so we will not know where we are pointing.

If we don't like this way of proceeding, we can change it. If instead of shooting directly we want us to open the camera application to frame manually, we can configure it like this in the settings.

We will go to the Camera Settings and enter "Quick Snapshot", at the end of everything. The app gives us three options: take a quick snapshot, open the camera and deactivate this option.

And since we are talking about the volume key, we can change its function when we are using the camera application . By default, it is set to the Shutter option. That is, if we press the volume down key it will shoot the photo. But this we can change.

The application allows us to change and make that key serve us to modify the zoom . Or, we can configure it so that when pressing it focus. All of this will help us to have more direct access to specific functions of the camera.
