Frequency inhibitors, how do they work?

how inhibitors work frequency 2020

The use of frequency jammers is increasingly widespread in vehicle and home thefts. In the last decade, the use of systems to inhibit the alarm signal has skyrocketed in a direct promotional way to the number of robberies in Spain. In fact, the Generalitat de Catalunya itself was forced to publish a video in 2018 showing the operation of this type of apparatus through an intervention by the Mossos d'Esquadra. Today the systems are much more advanced and complex, as we will see below. And security is not an option, but a necessity.

How do the robbery jammers work?

Frequency jammers, also known as jammers or signal jammers, are defined as devices whose sole objective is to block the signal from a certain environment through the emission of an "oversized" signal. The operation of this type of apparatus is very simple.

Broadly speaking, the electronic scheme followed by the jammers consists of a signal generator and a transmitter. The first component is in charge of generating the signal on the same frequency that the devices you want to ban operate (mobile phones, GPS, alarms ...) , while the second component is in charge of expanding the signal in its environment to block the "channels" where the rest of the devices operate.

This is what a frequency jammer looks like.

Depending on the size of the disturber, the device can block areas of several square meters, such as entire homes and even urbanizations. Ironically, the use of these devices was originally intended to protect some government areas. This is the reason why the sale and use of disturbers are prohibited in Europe as of today. In fact, its use in Spain is punishable by fines ranging from 500,000 euros to 20 million . Yes, you read it right. 20 million euros.

Unfortunately, getting a jammer is as easy as surfing the web for a couple of minutes. The investment is minimal, so anyone can have access to a disturber if they have the means. A fact: at least 600 people are interested every month in Spain by signal inhibitors and similar devices on the Internet, according to Ahref. It is also no coincidence that more than 14,000 robberies have been recorded in the first three months of 2020 , according to data from Europa Press.

Is there a solution to override rate jammers at home?

The truth is that yes. Companies such as Prosegur have designed an entire alarm system based on triple security devices. This type of system duplicates the communication channels to ensure connections with the company's switchboards, which are kept active 24 hours a day, 365 days a year . In this case, one of the ways is connected directly to the electrical current, while the second way establishes a connection through the Internet. In this way, the system is protected against power outages, equipment sabotage and, ultimately, frequency inhibitors.

Together with a support system with perimeter detectors, security fences and surveillance cameras, the perimeter becomes practically impassable. Prosegur's alarm system has a response of less than 29 seconds with immediate notification to the Police and its own security guards in case of need. To this must be added that all alarms with triple security have a motion and temperature sensor, with automatic activation in case of detecting movements in the protected areas of the home or the environment.
