DVDRip, TS, CAM, Teelsync, Screener ... how to download movies or series for their quality

FormatsMovies1

With this article, we want to give a hand to anyone who wants to download a video or movie from the Internet , but does not know which one to choose. And we do not mean to know if, by the title, the film will be entertaining, but to know, before downloading it, if it will have a good image quality or not . And it is that, although it may not seem like it, those very long names with a lot of strange terms that are after the title, actually offer details about the file format and its quality.

The most commonly used nomenclature is “Name.of.the.Movie.Year.Label.CodecUsed.Group” . But hence the only thing that interests us to find out the quality of the video is the label . Below we will highlight which are the most used labels, starting with the highest quality, and most common in file-sharing networks.

Blu-RayRip - High Quality:

Possibly the highest quality format that we can find so far. This format has been ripped or extracted directly from an official Blu-Ray of the film, so we will find it in high definition format. Although yes, being an extracted video, it will not have menus or additional content .

DVDRip - High Quality:

Possibly the most common we can find. This format has been extracted from the DVD of the film, so its quality will also be very high . However, as in the previous case, we will not have menus or extra content either .

TVRip - High quality:

This time, the file has been extracted from the television, that is, something that has been broadcast has been recorded . In this case, they are usually episodes of series, and in general, they are usually extracted from digital television with perfect quality . However, sometimes we can find some recorded with worse quality, since not everything is broadcast by satellite, but this is almost never the case.

VHSRip - Medium quality:

Again it is a video extracted from a digital medium, except that this time, as it is a VHS, the quality will be notably worse . Above all, it is usually found if we look for old films, which were released on VHS, but not on DVD.

DVD-Screener - Medium quality:

It is une p extracted elícula of a DVD, but unlike the DVDRip, in this case is a promotional DVD . For example, the one that is sent to video stores before its launch. This implies that throughout the film, we will see text posters that will warn us that it is a promotional video, and sometimes even with an audio message that will prevent us from hearing the film.

VHS-Screener - Low Quality:

As in the previous format, in this case it is again a movie taken from a promotional video. But since it is a VHS, the quality will be much worse .

Telecine (TC) - Medium quality:

This format is quite difficult to find , due to how difficult it is to convert the film in this way. This is because it is a film extracted with a Telecine, from the film itself . However, its quality is quite good.

Telesync (TS) or CAM - Low quality:

In both cases, it is the image obtained by a video camera that has recorded the cinema screen . In this way, the safest thing is that the sound is saturated, we do not appreciate the scenes with more darkness, and generally you will hear and see people passing in front of the camera . And all this without counting that the image is usually taken from the side of the room, which will worsen the quality even more.
