We continue to test the latest Nokia music mobiles . Now it's the turn of the Nokia 5610 Xpress Music , a 3g phone with a sliding screen design . It does not have those three keys dedicated to music playback glued to the screen that were so comfortable for us in the Nokia 5310 Xpress Music , but in return it is a more complete, powerful and advanced terminal.
Sliding simplicity
The Nokia 5610 is not an ultra-slim design phone, but it maintains adequate measurements to be a slider (sliding screen): 17 millimeters thick and 75 grams in weight . It features a 2.2-inch screen with a small video calling camera just above it.
Just below the screen is a button that scrolls to both sides, to directly access the radio or media player and return to the main menu . Still further down is the navigation wheel , which serves both to control the songs and to move through the phone menus.
The external controls, apart from the alphanumeric keyboard that unfolds from the bottom, are completed with the volume control and a button that starts the camera , both located on one side. The entire front face is surrounded by a gray aluminum frame that, as in the 5310 , we can customize with two red or blue strips on both sides of the screen .
Good multimedia performance
Musically speaking, this Xpress Music is as well endowed as its “little brother” the 5310 when it comes to sound quality, thanks to its special chip dedicated to music . With two differences. In the first place, the autonomy is even greater : using an average use (between two and three hours of daily playback) and keeping the telephone function active at all times, this Nokia holds perfectly for three days without the need to recharge, and still has a spare little bit.
The second difference is the input jack for headphones, which follows the standard of 2.5 millimeters , less widespread than 3.5 . The camera , without becoming one of the most advanced terminals Nokia , offers an ambitious resolution 3.2 megapixel with integrated flash .
It carries the same operating system as the 5310 , a Symbian S40 , but with a more complete section of shortcuts, including the Internet browser ( Opera mini ). To store photos, videos and songs we will need a microSD memory card (accepts up to 4 gigs ).
It is also accompanied by a microUSB port with which we can connect the Nokia 5610 to a PC, to synchronize, add and delete files (with the Windows player or Nokia's PC Suite ). And of course, we have Bluetooth to use the "hands free" in the car or transfer small files to other devices.
Who wants a Nokia 5310 Xpress Music?
Fans looking for music on their mobile phone without the battery suffering the first few changes , with a terminal with an elegant design and capable of taking good photos and communicating by video call . In addition, with a not excessively crazy price: 330 euros (free) .
Strengths
This Nokia 5610 offers very convincing sound quality and a camera with which we can get good results. But the best is its excellent range , putting you one step ahead of those musical mobile doomed to rely constantly on the charger.
Of course, you have to try to deactivate the lights that illuminate the external controls every few minutes when the mobile is closed . They remain the sea of gimmicky and striking, but they are hitting small bites to the drums without us noticing.
It can improve
A pity that the jack connection of this Xpress Music does not follow the 3.5 mm standard , which is the most common in headphones. Let's hope they at least include an adapter in the sales package, although it is always much more convenient not to need this type of accessories.
Another improvement detail is the back cover . It looks like a trifle, but it takes a bit of work to remove and cannot be removed by sliding it down . It is not that it is an operation that we have to do daily, but it is always appreciated that the change of the memory card or the SIM is as simple as possible.
