The Samsung Galaxy Xcover 4 is official, price and features

The Samsung Galaxy Xcover 4 is the mobile you always wanted to go bomb. Or for your unruly son to hold in your hands. The successor to the Samsung Galaxy Xcover 3 is a  robust mobile ready for use in extreme conditions . That includes resistance to water and dust, but also to low or very high temperatures. And to all kinds of falls and bumps. Not surprisingly, its design has passed the US military test MIL-STD 810G.

It will be available in Europe from April. Its starting price is placed at 259 euros (260 euros to round off). For this price you can get a mobile with a 5-inch screen, three physical buttons, a screen that recognizes the keystrokes with gloves or the latest version of Android 7.0 Nougat. A very robust bomb proof design

There is no doubt that the great appeal (and functionality) of the Samsung Galaxy Xcover 4 is in its design. Samsung's rugged mobile par excellence has an IP68 certificate. That means it is protected against both dust and water . In theory, it could be submerged under water for more than thirty minutes without damage. But you must always bear in mind that it is a laboratory test and that there are corrosive elements in the seawater or the chlorine itself that can end up damaging the device.

The Samsung Galaxy Xcover has also passed the US military MIL-STD 810G test. In this test, the phone is put to the test against all kinds of falls, shocks or extreme weather conditions. 

Another of the peculiarities of this model is in the presence of three physical buttons under the screen, instead of just one as usual in Samsung (although this trend disappears with the Samsung Galaxy S8). The dimensions of this mobile are placed at  146.2 x 73.3 x 9.7 millimeters. In addition, it is combined with a weight of 172 grams . This is a pretty good figure if we take into account the robust nature of this terminal.

Other technical characteristics

Apart from its robust design and its panel, this is a basic mobile to work in difficult environments. Thus, for example, we have our own quad-core processor with 1.4 GHz power . This chip is attached to a 2GB RAM. It's true, it's no wonder. But it more than fulfills the task of serving to surf the net, chat and use different simple apps.

On the other hand, photography is covered by a 13 megapixel main lens. Its main attraction is its aperture of f / 1.9 , which should help us get photos with enough brightness in dark environments. On the front is a more humble lens with 5 megapixels and light on the screen to enhance selfies.

Nor does it stand out especially in its internal memory, since it stays at 16 GB . This space can be expanded via a microSD memory card. Where it does seem that this model stands out is in its operating system. The Samsung Galaxy Xcover 4 will bet starting on Android 7.0 Nougat.

The Samsung Galaxy Xcover 4 bets on a 2,800 milliamp battery . In principle, it is a good capacity for this screen format and the power of the equipment. However, it seems to us that Samsung could have made a greater effort at this point to reach the level of mobiles such as the Xiaomi Redmi 4X with a two-day battery, for example.
